Despite its size, the exhibits are informative and visually interesting. The docent was knowledgeable about both the museum and the area history. A very pleasant stop.

Awesome little museum. For years I’ve gone to Seaside with kids in tow and never took the time to explore the historical aspect of Seaside. They went through a lot to be an important vacation destination for Oregon. You will learn about the hardships they faced to create a road and rail system so people could get there to enjoy the expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Wyndham and Shilo Inn sit on sites that were once prominent in Seaside history, hosting the likes of President Kennedy and providing indoor recreation for the enjoyment of many who visited there. It includes a glimpse inside the Butterfield cottage, which has since been moved from its original location and restored for all to appreciate what seaside vacationing was like at the turn of the century.

The Seaside Museum ended up being a cool place to stop. Hardly got to the door and was able to join a tour of the cottage next door. The ladies staffing the place are very nice people and fun to talk to. The main museum is small, but very informative. You learn a lot of Seaside. History of the Promenade. Another town with a great fire. You even learn about a shootout that took place in town. And a lot more. Lot of info for a small town. Worth stopping for.

We popped in to the museum not really knowing what to expect but we really enjoyed our quick stop. We learned a lot in a short period of time that helped us appreciate the history of the town. The cottage tour next door was wonderful with some really well preserved items. Definitely worth your time!

We stopped by this wonderful museum this morning to look around. We were met by a volunteer who really knew her stuff and information regarding the museum and well as old information regarding Seaside.

Lots of old photos of people: homesteaders of the 1860s and 70s. Descriptions of the challenges to the Lewis and Clark expedition. Some lighthouse descriiptions and books for sale.

Very interesting look at early Clatsop area history. Nicely done displays honoring native Americans as well as the white settlers. The Butterfield Cottage next door is furnished in period style and gives you a glimpse into the 1890s.

I learned a lot about Seaside here, the lady was so nice and gave us a lot of interesting details and led us on a tour of the house here too.
