What a unique and beautiful experience in every season. Easy walking for most anyone, with beautiful views of Mt Hood on the east side of the preserve. There is a short loop trail through meadows and in late Spring the purple flowers of the native camas is so lovely.

The Camassia Natural Area is a wonderful place to hike and enjoy the beauty of nature. The trail is well kept and provides a nice little Zen ambience right in the City. Truly a natural gem. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Easy hiking for people of all age brackets. One tip to share pets are not allowed .

Camassia has evolved and gained accessibility over the past two decades to offer a distinct trailhead and orientation to the special meadows preserved here. At peak bloom, you can expect to see carpets of color of camas and rosy plectritis ranging throughout the oak savannah restored on this bluff above West Linn.
At this time of year, Nature Conservancy volunteers populate the area to offer insights and answer questions about the flora and fauna found here. It’s a great short loop for families and fairly easy walking for those with independent mobility. Birders are likely to ID dozens of species in a single visit! Stay on trail to avoid misfortune with native poison oak.

This short loop trail takes visitors through a variety of landscapes including forest, marsh and rocky terrain. The Common Camas are blooming currently. Bring sunscreen as many parts are in full sun. Please be sure to observe Leave No Trace principles to keep this gem in tact!

I periodically wander the trails of this small preserve because it is such an accessible piece of nature in the middle of the city I live in .For such a small slice of nature it offers an intesting variety of geologic formations and landscape. The short (aproximately one-half mile) looped trail system exposes you to the diverse landscape that comprises the preserve. Because the preserve is adjacent to Wilderness Park -- a city owned open space -- the more adventurous hiker can take a spur trail to the upper heights of the preserve which connects to the Wilderness Park trail system. This makes for a much lengthier hiking experience than the preserve alone has to offer.

I've walked through Camassia a number of times and it's really incredible for a number of reasons. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. It contains some great physical history of the area.

This is a small Nature Conservancy piece of land near the high school in West Linn. After going through forest you come out on what at first looks like a meadow but is a volcanic basalt outcropping with some sporadic oak and aspen. It's an interesting place and on the eastern edge has a nice view of Mt. Hood when it's clear.

i love camassia park. my only complaint is that it is relatively small. it is especially interesting in the spring when the purple camassia flowers are out, as well an array of other spring flowers. my wife and i had a family photos there last year with an array of different ecoterrains, from forest to oak savannah to wildflower meadow.

Nice trails for hiking through the natura area, listen to the birds and examine the floral vegetation. Also there is a nice overview of the downtown Oregon City downtown - Capital of the Oregon Territory, and the Oregon City Municipal Elevator taking visitors from downtown to uptown.

I found this little area and trail to be a very easy walk with some interesting features. The trailhead has brochures and there are markers throughout It's a forested wetland restoration site and they've been working on removing invasive plants so that the native ones can flourish. I plan to return in the spring (April-May the brochure states) so I can see the Camas Lily bloom. NO dogs BTW.

Are the camas flowers out right now?

I am not an authority on camas flowers, but it is my understanding that they bloom in April through May, so my hunch is that this is still a little early. I reguarly hike in West Linn's Wilderness Park, which abuts the Camassia Wilderness area, and the most obvious flowers are the protected Trilliums (along with a few other species whose names I do not know. It is of course possible that the camas flowers are starting to bloom, but I think a good bet would be to wait at least until mid-to-late April.
