This was an interesting park. There was a musket demo and soldier that provided explanations. The actual fort building was for ammunition storage, so it was small. The tavern is a beautiful building. Braddock's grave(s) have interesting history surrounding them. Definitely worth the visit. And the park staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!

This is a great small museum that shouldn't be missed in Pittsburgh! An important story of early Pittsburgh when the French and British were fighting over claiming land in the area and starting the expansion west. It tells of young George Washington's adventures. There's also a statue of Washington nearby and a plaque nearby in the area where General Braddock died.

This was a rather interesting place. The price was cheap ($5) and there is free parking. The staff was nice and helpful when asking questions. It is a small location but jammed full of information about MG Braddock, George Washington, and the French and Indian War. It is worth stopping in if you are in the area, but not something I would drive out of my way to see.

Though my family is from Pittsburgh I was not very familiar with theBattle of the Monongahela until last few years. In that time I have been doing a lot of research and reading about the Battle including David Preston's book Braddock's Defeat.in a reading that book and some others I had not realized historical significance of the battle that took place right here in Pittsburgh 264 years ago and its historical contribution to the French and Indian war ultimately the seven years war and then leading up to the American Revolution. I would certainly highly recommend that people come and visit this museum. It tells a story one that in this particular borough probably has been long forgotten. it would surprise me very much if the residents in that area understood the storical significance of where they are living. One of the many facts about shared with us is that where the museum is located is probably the likely flashpoint of the battle and we're a major part of the fighting took place. In that soil on which themuseum rests and the residents walk and drive along everyday, resides the final resting place of 450 colonists, British, French and Native Americans who lost their lives that day. There are paintings and artifacts that are worth seeing just of themselves. I highly recommend a visit to replace that has such significance and yet has been easily overlooked.

This a neat little museum dedicated to the Battle of the Monongahela. The director there was a great guy. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the battlefield has been developed, so its hard to visualize the battle.

You don' have to be a history buff to have an entertaining and educational experience at this wonderful facility. If the word museum makes you shy away don't be dissuaded. Take the guided tour with the creator and curator, Bob Messner. Bob will immerse you in the story of one of the most interesting and important events in the regions and the nations history. All those forts you hear about in the area but weren't sure what they have to do with anything Fort Pitt, Fort Duquesne, Fort Necessity, Fort Ligonier, come to life with Bob's narrative as part of your city and southwest Pennsylvania history. Bob takes you on a journey that makes George Washington, General Braddock, John Forbes, and other historical figures come to life in telling the tale of the Battle of the Monongehela, one of the most influential events to plant the seeds of the Revolutionary War. The setting is compact, the discussion intimate, the artifacts and displays fascinating, a source for Braddock and Pittsburgh pride. This endeavor deserves support and you will be rewarded.

I went along with a bunch of friends. Myself, I'm not much of a museum person. But this little place was really interesting, in part because of the passion of the founder and docent, Bob Messner. Bob knows all the history of the Battle of the Monongahela off the top of his head. He is very conversational in his presentation of the details of this battle and the importance of the battle to American history. There is an excellent hour-long movie included as part of admission to the museum. Very professional exhibits, nothing interactive (yay!), and the air conditioning is top notch. Spent a very interesting three hours there (including the movie).

A small, privately, or should I say, personally run museum, that focuses on a critical event in US History that is minimally covered anywhere else. The exhibit room is about 40' x 40" and is well stocked with information panels and artifacts. It is difficult for me to assess the value of the narrative as this is the 7th site on the early phases of the French & Indian War I have visited in 3 days. Individual exhibits are well done, and there was new information shared, as it focused primarily on the Battle of Monongahela rather than on the entire war. The film,"When the Forest Ran Red" is very moving, and is available for purchase. The neighborhood has definitely seen better days, and looks nothing like it would have during the battle. If you are studying the period, it is defiantly worth a stop. There is nothing for small children, or even teens.

I attended the WWII museum in New Orleans the week prior to experiencing Braddock's Battlefield Historic Center. They are different venues yet both are at the top of their respective classes. The Braddock museum flows seamlessly from exhibit to exhibit in an well designed intimate setting. We were fortunate to have Mr. Messner as our docent as his prior professional training lent a riveting yet balanced presentation of the historic record. We intended a two hour visit and stayed three because of the quality of this museum and its focus on a remarkable period of American/World history.
