come check this place out, you can learn everything you possible to learn about Franklin County including seeing a airplane hanging from the ceiling. This building used to be a bank back in its day which you can walk inside and see the cool and thick walls.... in the vault.

Well, chambersburg has a history, a history of boring me to tears or violence. Lucky for me they’ve started to brew their own beer.
Now to the heritage...I used to joke about it being the only northern town the confederacy burnt. Not a joke anymore, as they recreate the burning every year to commemorate the event. If you like good beer and explosions this is the summertime event for you!

This is a small museum located in an office building. It showed a condensed form of the battles and burning that are depicted in greater detail elsewhere. You were able to go inside the huge bank vault, which was interesting. I probably would have appreciated it more had it been one of the first stops of the trip rather than the last.

A nice place to stop and get local history or gifts related to the area.

Sisters and I visiting area and stopped in here. I was a little disappointed that they did not have more physical displays. It was mostly pictures.

We stopped in and had a great conversation with the local guide.
He gave us info on local sites and eaterys.
They have some good books and my hubby picked up one with civil war history.

Stopped in with family to check out the ice sculptures, see the shopping, food and drink offered at the festival. It was a warm weekend, so the smaller ones were melting pretty fast, but the big ones were holding their own. The sculptures are lining the street for about 4-5 blocks in downtown. They were beautiful. Only negative is lack of parking. They took out about 50 spots downtown from last year. I had to park farther away. They really need a parking garage or start busing people in from the parking lots to a certain location closer. They close off the streets during the festival.They have a chili cook off, polar dunk plunge, food vendors set up. Overall a good experience, just need to fix the parking issues for big events.

The Heritage Center has set up a nice collection of area history. They have great pictures of local barns and historical figures who were local to the area. I am from Franklin County and really appreciated learning about all of the history. They have a nice collection of souvenirs. My favorite thing to see was the old bank vault. You can walk into the vault and they allow you to pull out certain drawers that contain biographies of local historical figures. This is a really neat place to visit!!

Not sure if we were there on the wrong day or what, but the staff was just downright rude. Our questions were all answered with a curt yes or no. It certainly wasn't a friendly welcome and didn't encourage me to return.

I lived in this town for the last 15 years and never been to the Heritage Center. Boy was I surprised. They got a lot of nice things in there and even things for young children to can Explorer. There's also a large fault in this building which was need to go in and see all the safety deposit boxes from long long time ago. It even list the names of the old famous people that you alized the boxes along with their dates and pictures.
There is a large plane hanging from the ceiling which is very neat to see. My son loved it
