I highly recommend. Mercer was way ahead of his time. He was also so thoughtful thinking of the future preserving the past and present of his time to show everyone the past that he constructed this castle for all his artifacts. I've never seen so much of our past preserved in one place like this place. A must see along with Fonthill Castle.

The museum is a unique concrete built castle like building from 1916. The collection covers tools and crafts from early days of European settlement in the area. Seems that everyone will find something interesting to see or do there. Kids' self guided activities are available.

Our group, grandparents and teens, were delighted with our visit. I first visited 70 years ago with my elementary school class - it has only gotten better but feels the same somehow. The collection illustrates life in the US before the industrial revolution, from the tiniest tool for woodworking to a Conestoga wagon! The arrangements and descriptions make these old items come alive. We highly recommend.

We spent two hours on a Sunday wandering through the seven levels of the Mercer Museum. If you enjoy stepping into the past and imagining life over 100 years ago then this is the place for you. The collection of tools, transportation and machinery is well laid out as you go from level to level. I left with a deeper appreciation of how previous generations had to work hard for many things we take for granted today!

Great place to spend the afternoon. Very interesting site. Lisa (our tour guide) was extremely knowledgable and friendly.

Fascinating glimpses into tool making in so many human endeavors in a wonderfully quirky building. Good eye level ( for adults) explanations. Excellent proactive docents. I will gladly go again. There is so much to learn.

First let me say that I did not have a positive experience in this museum, but that’s a personal issue. I felt overwhelmed by the number of objects in the place and their chaotic arrangement. It also bothered me to see so many objects used by people of the past, many who spent their entire life in drudgery just to survive. I got in and out in an hour and went on all the floors.

In contrast, I thoroughly enjoyed Fonthill and the Moravian Tileworks the day before and felt no emotional malaise.

The museum is well cared for and there is an elevator in case you prefer to ride rather than walk. There are bathrooms on the first floor and a small gift shop. It’s worth seeing just once since it’s so odd.

Very cool museum with an eclectic and interesting way of displaying items that keeps your attention and makes artifacts shine. I have been going to museums my whole life and I've never been in one like this. Worth the price of admission.

I have been to many museums, but this one is one of the most unique of all! It is made totally out of concrete and is seven floors. It contains implements and pieces of the past that are now great teaching tools of the past. Always see something I've missed the last few times!

My first thought upon entering the museum was…oh my god there is stuff hanging from the ceiling! It is a little overwhelming and you do not know where to look first but it is also very cool at the same time. The collection of artifacts are grouped by category with a brief description in each section. As a whole, the collection shows how early Americans lived and worked. I would recommend a visit if you love history. Cost is $15 which is reasonable for a visit. I recommend about 2 hours to explore all the floors and any special exhibits.
