Trails near the campground are overgrown and not well marked. The DCNR could do a better job here. Campground is small (23 sites) with absolutely zero cell service, not even SOS. They do have a pay phone that takes calling cards. It was clean and everyone was friendly.

PA DCNR / State Parks system is one of the best in the United States. There is more than meets the eye at this Park as well.

A little close to the highway, but not a terribly high traffic area (in October anyway). Leaves were cleared from most of the camp sites and probably the cleanest bathroom I have been in at a State Park. A local recommended we go visit Noah Parker mausoleum a few miles up the road, but it was raining in the morning so we skipped it but research after the fact makes it and the story behind it sound interesting.

We think of this park fondly as we had family reunions there in past years. Now we use this park as destination on a motorcycle ride. We live maybe 1 1/2 hours away. Stop at Sheetz in Emporium and grab food for a picnic, or there's a nice little concession stand at the pool. We find a picnic table and enjoy. Nice large swimming pool which gets a lot of use on a hot day. A worker this summer explained why the water in past years was so bitterly cold. It seems that there was so much leakage each day that replacement spring water kept it cold. He explained that now there is no leakage and the water is comfortable. There's a lot of picnic tables spread out over the scenic park. Nice!!!!!!!!!

Stayed here over the 4th of July holiday weekend with the family. We stayed at site # 22, which is one of the walk-in tent sites. It was possible the best site I've stayed at to date in PA.
It was large and spacious with generous tree cover. The creek ran alongside the site, which made sleep an easy undertaking, as it added to the ambiance. As it was the Fourth weekend, there were a variety of events and programs being run daily.
We attended two of the documentary screenings at the amphitheater, along with about twenty other people on both nights. The two rangers that we interacted with, a male in his thirties and a female in her twenties, were super friendly and helpful - as well as knowledgeable of their AOR.
We visited the pool, which was particularly refreshing on a day in the 90s. Lastly, we explored the trail system, which is my only criticism, as it was heavily overgrown and in need of some routine maintenance.
I would assume that this may be due to the fact that the State has been funding large projects, while neglecting the staffing and maintenance of the smaller, more (IMO) critical components of the State Park System.
