Overpriced for a pretty bare bones exhibition space. Every board and room were in the same color scheme and the descriptions and stories really were the bare minimum they could have stated about the namesake. I didn't learn anything that I couldn't have gotten off a wikipedia article. You can pay extra to have a chocolate flight and a chocolate lab experience, but it was already too much for too little.

Although we visit the Hershey area every few years, this was the first time we went to the Hershey Museum and we are glad that we did! The exhibits do an excellent job with sharing Milton Hershey's life and legacy. If you are interested in a more in depth story about the history of Hershey, we recommend you spend some time at the museum. We didn't partake of the extras, we were more interested in just the museum itself.

Fantastic museum, that kept my kids (8 & 10) engaged for almost two hours. Very interactive and engaging with great educational activities. Try out the chocolate tasting bar too!

My husband & I spent 2 days in Hershey Pennsylvania. We went to the Hershey Story Museum and enjoyed the displays. We did the “Hot Chocolates from Around the World” & the “Chocolate Lab”. Both were excellent. The hot chocolates compared different strengths of cacao from different countries mixed with water, cream or milk. In the lab they show the process of making chocolate from the moment of hand harvesting to end product & how Hershey perfected it. You also get to pour & construct your own white &/or dark chocolate bars. Well worth the time & money spent. We then went to “World of Chocolate. We did the free “factory tour” ride. It was cute & informative, but geared mostly toward kids. It is nothing like a real factory tour. Hershey’s actual factory doesn’t do tours anymore. The retail area was extremely crowded & filled with rowdy children. This part of the day was not enjoyable & we left immediately. That evening we visited the Cassel Winery & were very impressed with it. The tastings were very good & the employees very helpful & knowledgeable. We enjoyed crackers & cheeses with our wine while listening to very good band music. Highly recommend!!

This is a first class presentation of the life of Milton Hershey and his legacy.
Great for all ages.
Lots of chocolate tasting if you choose.
Nice gift shop with reasonably priced items.
Cafe.
Free parking.
Admission is complimentary if you stay at the Hershey Lodge.

Great muleseum that talks about the history of Milton Hershey. His fatjwrs failures as well as his own and the ability to keep trying. It is not just about his story, bur how he developed the town and encouraged home ownership. Then getting g a Med School built as well as his opening of the trade school in town that has evolved into an outstanding boarding school for under privileged kids.

Received free tickets from our stay at Hotel Hershey. This is a very informative museum and was very interesting! Must see if you're in the area.

My 7yr and 13yr old boys and husband & I loved the museum! Very interesting for all of us. We received tickets for free with our stay at Hershey Lodge. I would have been ok having paid full price though- it was that informational and engaging- even for the 7-year-old! Definitely ask for the scavenger hunt paper if they don't give it to you for the kids. The volunteers were helpful and engaging. The artifacts were engaging. If you are a child of the 70's or 80's, go see the special exhibition on the 1st floor- it features a lot of the advertising from our childhood! We paid for 1 full flight of the chocolate sipping chocolates for our family of 4 to share and that was a blast! It's self-paced and I read each description while we each took a sip tasting the chocolate. Even the ones that were too dark or bitter for the kids were fun to try! We spent almost 3 hours there. It was very enjoyable.

Milton Hershey was more than a Chocolate Maker !! With a 4th grade education he accomplished so much in his lifetime. Helped so many as well. From helping his employees own homes, starting & opening many other businesses they would need in their new town. The Orphanage was built & upon his death his money went to them to continue to keep it open. Back in those days PA had laws & many children were taken from their moms after the father was killed or died. Women were not allowed to keep their children. Milton Hershey opened a hospital and started athletics & built schools, encouraged many in his new town to start businesses. He took an orphan who showed interest in the business and trained him in chocolate making & the business. Later that man became CEO after Milton’s death. Milton & his wife had no children. Just so much Information.. take the time to read it. We enjoyed our visit !!

We want to visit Hershey, but we are limited in time. We want to devote an afternoon there. My must haves are the trolley tour, make my own chocolate bar, and Chocolate world. Is it doable in an afternoon? There will be three adults so I'm okay with skipping the 4D experience and tasting room. Thanks!

The Hershey Museum is a must for me. If I had limited time, I would skip Chocolate World. To me, it's more of a young kid thing.

There are no guided tours. You go at your own pace. We spent a little over two hours there. The only thing we missed out on was a tour of the Chocolate Lab. You’ll have to check the times on the website. Enjoy. We certainly did

I see on the website you can buy tickets combining the museum and lab. Is there a ticket that includes tasting, the gardens and story? Or is it $46 to do all five? And can it ALL be done in one day?

Right now you can purchase combo tickets for Hershey story Museum and the Hershey gardens. I think you have to buy the tickets to the Chocolate Lab on site I think the website is simply showing you the prices. If you click on purchase tickets the website tells you that the prices do not include the chocolate lab.

This is our second time to Hershey. We have done Hershey's Chocolate World, but not The Hershey Story. Is there much of a difference between the Chocolate Lab and the Create Your Own Chocolate Bar at Chocolate World?

Yes, there is a difference. The Create Your Own Chocolate Bar is hands on and you walk along watching an actual conveyor belt as the candy bar is being made. As part of the process, you also design your own wrapper and receive the large candy bar at the end in a very nice Hershey's tin. For the Chocolate Lab, you sit and listen to someone talk about the different kinds of chocolate, taste test several different kinds of chocolate, and watch a short film. Maybe a half hour at most. At the end of the lab, you receive a small candy bar on the way out. Very educational. Depending on how the crowds are, the Create Your Own Chocolate Bar takes longer and you are standing the whole time but it's neat to watch.
