What a gem. A wonderful small museum punching above its weight with unique exhibits from history rich Wiltshire. Some nice children features. If you like ancient history do not miss this museum.

Went with family with 4 children the garden was littered with dog poo the playhouse was broken with broken glass bulbs inside broken swings this garden has so much potential but wouldn’t go back we have been twice in the past mo th and no improvements

The Wiltshire Museum does not have a playhouse, and so this review is not about the Museum. This review will be reported to TropAdvisor with a request that it be removed.

Fantastic museum full of artefacts of national importance. Really well presented with interesting information boards that give just the right amount of information. Welcoming volunteers. This is a real gem of a museum and not to be missed.

This is one of the best museums that we have visited.
The exhibits are excellent and the descriptions are very informative.
An extra bonus is the parking area behind the museum.

Starting at the ground floor you start with pre history, working your way up through time and the upper galleries to more modern times.So worth a visit.

We had a fabulous visit here this weekend, spending nearly 2 hours in the various rooms. The museum seems to be transitioning from an old style collection, where each cabinet is just a list of artefacts with detailed descriptions to a more interactive and wider ranging display. Some areas we just skimmed through but overall it was a fascinating history of the county and how it fitted in to the wider world. There were some more modern displays that helped a wider age range understand and appreciate the local history such as the ‘smells of wiltshire’ boxes. Definitely worth the entrance fee for a pleasant and unhurried way to improve awareness of our local history and environment.

We were advised to visit by a person at Stonehenge.
Not disappointed as this is a well curated museum.
Everything is laid out well and the signage is very clear with each era numbered.
Definitely worth stopping by.

Spent an interesting couple of hours, with a lot of local objects of historical significance. Though contents were certainly worth the time, display is crammed in an old building with an awkward flow between rooms to follow. I understand the intention is to move the whole museum to another larger site nearby, where the pieces could be shown to greater advantage in a contemporary display. I do hope they manage this!

A huge range of exhibits. I was expecting a relatively small museum but I was very much mistaken! The variety of artifacts and information here is very impressive and I recommend setting aside a good couple of hours if you want to see and read everything.
