What an incredible sight.
We walked up to lock number 28 of 29.
There is a little cafe there so you can get a hot coffee while watching the trials and tribulations of the canal boats.

The locks here was on the wife's wish list as part of our long, long overdue visit to Wiltshire.
Very, very impressed at the extent of human effort, ingenuity present at the start of the 19th century.
A huge big up to the staff and volunteers who keep it going too.

Four of us (two couples) had Moonstruck for a weekend break and really enjoyed our time on the canal. Moonstruck was well equipped and the briefing provided by Whitehorse boats staff was comprehensive, backed up by the booklet provide. We followed the itinerary in this booklet and on the website and this was adequate although we would recommend purchasing a more detailed book such as Pearson's guide to the canal. This details every bridge number so you know exactly where you are at any time. It also contains descriptions and small maps of all villages on the way. There is also a free app which the staff recommended and provides similar information.
This itinerary from Devizes to Wooton Rivers and back is ideal as an introduction to canal boating since it is lock free so relatively relaxing although there are some swing bridges and narrow passages to make sure the helm is concentrating. The scenery is great and we were blessed to sunny weather which gave us a relaxing and fun time.
We would certainly recommend Whitehorse Boats and this section of the K&A.

Stayed at Caen Hill Marina which was an absolutely beautiful marina with everything you could ever possibly need on hand. The manager Lorraine was very warm and welcoming and extremely helpful. They have a little shop on site where I was able to buy some much needed supplies. The ladies toilet block was spotless and clean. Was also able to do some laundry. The whole marina had a very friendly atmosphere and was a pleasure to stay in and will for sure be staying there again.

First visit here; friendly staff, very clean environment with a great menu. Everything was very reasonably priced, well presented & speedy service. I thought the staff were all doing amazingly well in the hot weather!

What a wonderful place to visit. We ended up spending a few hours enjoying, watching and chatting to the National Trust volunteers about the engineering behind the Locks. Seeing these in action was a real treat. The tow path and surrounding parkland was stunning, plenty of lovely tracks to enjoy a walk.
There was a very small but cute cafe to enjoy a drink during your time. Parking is easy, pay and display, with good signage to get to the main parking area.
A great stop on your way to Bath or Bristol.

This was a couple hours well spent. Had a coffee in the cafe then made our way down the the visitor canal boat where we had a delightful time talking to the staff there. And learning.

What a lovely place to visit. We were lucky enough to see a few barges going through the locks which was an added bonus. Nature all around with lots of dragonflies and birds with their young. What a fantastic piece of engineering and some lovely photo opportunities. Would definitely recommend.

This is a flight of locks; it is extensive and very impressive. Very popular place for locals walking and (rightly) for tourists. The adjacent Jubilee Wood is in development but some elements are already of interest
