This very old Chapel which in some parts is 600 years old.A stunning old Chapel inside and out set in a lovely grounds. Plenty to see inside when it opens once a month. On our visit is was open.We were given free hot drinks.A a serene house of God with occasional services. Has links to St Chads Church in Romiley.Well worth popping into, going around the grounds. Also it is well worth sitting in the beautiful gardens and watching the birds.A quiet oasis.

The main entrance to chadkirk chaple and country park is on Otterspool Road. there is a free carpark at the entrance and a small disabled carpark next to the chapel which is about half a mile from the main entrance. Be warned the disabled carpark is along a very narrow single-track road with no turning points.
The chapel is small but pretty and in some lovely natural countryside with many paths to wander down giving you miles of woodland walks.
The chapel gardens are pretty and have plenty of seating. Don't just go to the chapel take a walk in the lovely woods as well. so calming and restful.

Perfect place to visit to feel connected to nature and/or relax in calm surroundings. Garden bird's and bird's of prey are commonly in the area.

The actual Chapel building is currently closed. You can still walk around the stunning gardens. See the building from the outside which is several hundred years old. Along with the flattened gravestones. Beautiful spring flowers in bloom on the visit. In the adjoining garden. There is a bird feeding area which attracts numerous birds. Chadkirk well is not far away and has a well dressing festival. Walks all around. A peaceful oasis has benches to sit on

The smallest bird proved hard to capture within woodland trees but I am pleased to have seen it regardless otherwise Great Tit's, Blue Tit's, Nuthatches, Robin and other bird's very much at home in grounds.

Attractively set in a valley below Romiley this peaceful chapel, within its own well set out gardens has been restored thoughtfully. I couldn’t gain access possibly due to the timing of my visit, but the whole area is criss-crossed with well signposted paths and cycle routes which make for a lovely quiet walk whatever the weather. It is close to the river Goyt and car parking, plus toilets, are just off Dooley Lane/Otterspool Road (A627) and is free. The tarmac road leads into the hamlet itself, but I think the through road to Romiley is now closed. The walks to the chapel and along the brook are flat, with any stiles being the large kissing-gate style! If you walk along by the brook from the car park beware two fallen trees make passage difficult and would not be suitable for trolleys or wheel chairs. The road is OK though. Nearby is the newly installed weir which I believe produced hydro power for some of the businesses in the area.

I have visited this museum on many occasions through the year. Only open at weekends and special days. The building can be hired for private functions and there is a big use now for weddings, mainly on a Saturday. So be warned about the building being closed on some days.
There are certain religious festivals still celebrated at the museum, possibly as a "Tourist Attraction" due to the Museum not being a Religious Building due to its abandonment by the Church of England many years ago. These include Pagen (Well Dressing, Fertility Rite Celebrations, etc) and basic Christen styles ( Christmas Carols, Easter celebration, etc) amongst others. As well as talks and information about the Saint Chad connections.
There is an excellent Snacks and Drinks outlet in the museum when it is open.
There are many different people and groups use the museum from the area and beyond as a meeting place on walks and hikes.
Be warned though, on occasions I have been there, a strange old man seems to sit around and will try to get in conversation and start giving his ideas and views on the place. He does not appear "Dangerous" but people find him a bit intrusive, particularly if they are there with family and/or friends etc.
Overall a really nice place to visit.

Visited last weekend whilst in the area. I used to come often years ago running. It’s much as I remembered really but couldn’t help but really notice the road noise constantly humming in the background. I know this can’t be avoided in anyway it just wasn’t as peaceful as the beautiful surroundings deserved. Seems a very popular place for dog walkers. Unfortunately some of the routes/paths weren’t suitable for my pram but that’s ok, we ventured down to the chapel then turned around & came back the way we’d came.

Very interesting place the chapel & gardens, also the places to walk in the area. The only down side are the disgusting toilets at the car park, Stockport Council should be ashamed !

Walking the dog around chadcirk. This is a wonderful place to visit for all levels of ability even wheelchairs. It is very flat has a small carpark with no metres. The chapel is set in a small graveyard steeped in history. The chapel is open only at the weekends and has a small refreshment area. You can now have your wedding at this venue, this is a new offering. I am sure if you would like to have your big day here you need to book early. A beautiful place ⛪
