We walked to the museum from Bramhall through the massive new housing estate, straightforward and clearly sign posted. Plenty of easy parking if you do bring the car. Took advantage of the concessionary discount and spent four hours here. Lots to see and read, we are not hugely interested in planes per se, but we found the layout and content very informative and compelling. We learned a lot about the history of AVRO and the Woodford site, and enjoyed getting to know the brave pilots and founders via the exhibits and information boards. It really made us appreciate the incredible and pioneering work done here and at the other AVRO sites, and the difference this made to the war effort and the development of flight in general. We particularly enjoyed learning about the Roe family and seeing Winston Churchill's actual plane seat!
The place is run by very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers who are happy to answer questions or leave you to explore at your own pace.
We enjoyed tea and cake in the cafe overlooking the Vulcan aircraft outside, where there are picnic tables if you bring lunch. Limited selection of sandwiches and chocolate bars are available in the cafe.
We didn't take advantage of any of the tours this time, but fully intend to return in the near future. A great and reasonably priced day out, which certainly all local residents should patronise to learn more about the unique history of the area where they live.

A really interesting museum. The staff/volunteers are fabulous. Lots of exhibits to see. Good cafe with great view. Highly recommended for a day out with family or friends.

What an awesome museum on the former Woodford Aerodrome. The entry price is good value for money. We also booked for all of the cockpit experiences. The staff that take you into the cockpits are very knowledgeable and answer any questions you ask. The exhibition is not all about the cockpit’s as there must be hundreds of models of planes on display. The highlight for me was climbing into the Vulcan cockpit as this is my favourite plane of all time. The directions to the museum is clearly marked out and the museum has ample free parking. If you fancy something different then definitely visit the Avro Heritage Museum.

Great day out for all the family! Well presented history of Avro Aviation history. Nose cones of influential Avro Aircraft to explore! Good cafe! Lots to see and do!

We entered our Mini in a classic car show and had admission included, we had a great day out and the staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Our 10 year old Grandson loved the museum and had a fab time and learned a lot. Would recommend it’s a good place to visit.

Very interesting museum. Built on the site of the Woodford Airodrome just outside Manchester. It follows the history of the Vulcan, Lancaster & Anston which were all built there.
You can for a extra charge visit the flightdecks of the Vulcan & Lancaster.
Small cafe serving sandwiches teas & coffees at a very good price.

The staff are so friendly, helpful and it's so obvious they love volunteering in this fab aviation museum. I think the visit is excellent value and the hands on experience of "flying a plane" or bombing an enemy submarine is something my boys enjoyed! 🤣

The main thing that sticks out about this place is the passion the staff have for what they do. They are so eager to share their knowledge and you can't help but feel excited to learn from them ! It's an inexpensive trip out and really informative - highly recommend

Superb, approachable, fun museum covering the development of aviation plus WWII and Cold War military aircraft. My (American) husband drove us from Liverpool just to see it (on the 'wrong' side of the road). It was worth every hair-raising roundabout.
The volunteer docents are beyond knowledgeable, articulate, and welcoming. The hands-on cockpit tours of four significant British aircraft are incomparable. The Virtual Reality experience of a WWII bombing raid on Berlin (especially if you have just done the Lancaster cockpit tour) is enthralling. Plus the museum is small enough to be digestible in a few hours -- rather than the usual but-wait-there's-more mind-numbing displays of aircraft, uniforms, models, medals ...
Somehow this museum touches on challenges of entrepreneurship, mechanical engineering, aeronautics, military preparedness, and history without being either preachy or boring. (And I say that having been dragged through dozens of space and aeronautic museums -- from NASA's in DC, to Space City outside Moscow, throughout the UK (Duxford/Cosford/Yeovil/Belfast, across the US, in New Zealand, in Canada ... I heartily recommend it for ages 8 - 98.

Yes, it’s still open but does not open on Mondays. The public days are Friday Saturday and Sunday. If you become a member of the museum you have the options of Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday as well. Those days are less busy. On normal public days closing is at 4 o’clock so you have to get in about 3:30 pm
