The tea room closes at 5.15pm. Was waiting with my 8yo daughter to be served at only 4.15pm and discovered all the cakes had been put away whilst I’d been in the queue to order tea! A cream tea here is £7.30 which includes one scone - there was one fruit scone left the size of a teeny tiny satsuma - clearly the end of the day runt no one wanted. When I asked if there were any others, I was told curtly they were all to the National Trust standard!! The scones themselves were left uncovered at waist height by the till, so very unhygienic - anyone could sneeze/cough over them and all hot drinks were passed above them. Really unwelcoming and I don’t want to visit again. A shame as I am a lng term local resident.

At Aug’24, parts of the building are undergoing conservation efforts. As a result, certain items are carefully wrapped/protected but the rooms are still available. Based on conservation efforts competed in other rooms, will look to plan another trip to see those rooms. Many docents appeared to befriendly, knowledgable volunteers who shared little stories about how certain artifacts were discovered and made their way to the house. Wallpaper, etc had been removed in certain rooms which uncovered things about the house that were not known previously. The docents also share stories like this which was interesting. There is something to see in each room, ranging from paintings, furniture, porcelain and of course, the ornately decorated rooms themselves.
The gardens open earlier and you can have tea/coffee at the cafe before visiting the gardens/house. There is a dog friendly section in the cafe for visitors to the park/cafe. Multiple parking lots but accessible by bus (you walk through the park so shaded by the trees).

The house is currently undergoing some renovation (repointing on one side) and the staff couldn’t have been more apologetic about us not being able to see the rooms at their best, however, maintenance of the fabric of the building is essential to keep the contents in good order, and in this property, the Adam interiors are definitely the highlight.
From the grand entrance hall which has been seen in so many films, to the library used in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Osterley House doesn’t disappoint, and the knowledgeable staff are on hand to give lots of information to visitors.
There’s a fabulous new caricature painting which is definitely a talking point in the “Yellow” Breakfast Room (they still haven’t decided what shade of yellow to paint it!). Not all of the house was open on the day we visited, which seems to be an issue for a lot of National Trust properties these days, but the staff who were there on duty were cheerful and welcoming.
There are two fabulous, partially wooded walks to enjoy around the circumference of Osterley Park, including a lovely lake where some kids were enjoying a spot of wild swimming.
The only drawbacks to this property are the sharp culverts you have to drive across to reach the car park, and the incessant aircraft noise as Osterley sits right beneath the main flight path into nearby Heathrow, and the aircraft are so low that their landing gear is down for the final approach!

Slightly off the main roads at the back of Hounslow.
Plenty of parking but only free for NT members.
The house has a rich past as built by original bankers (3rd bank to set up worldwide). However access is limited as much restoration ongoing. Great value for NT members but alot for a short walk around one floor. The gardens are delightful round the back in the walled section. The small lakes inhabited by geese were idealic.

Osterley is a lovely house with beautiful grounds. My experience was sadly marred by terrible weather, disrupted travel, and due to the latter, rooms weren't open as volunteers hadn't been able to get there. However, I was greeted by such a friendly guide, Arun, who was so knowledgeable and interesting. Fascinating facts regarding how Sanscrit informed so much of our language. The guide in the Etruscan room was also so informative, showing me how the wall paintings had been put together and possibly painted onsite. I feel I need to go back on a sunny day!

Myself and a friend visited Osterley House yesterday and we had a lovely time. The volunteers were extremely helpful and very well informed. They each had a competent knowledge of the history of the house and they delivered this in an entertaining manner. My only gripe is the signage. Inside the house the volunteers were doing their best to point people in the right direction but this meant that they had to break away from talking to other visitors. Clear directions are definitely needed. Also the outside signage is so ambiguous I went in completely the wrong direction for the toilets. Osterley you really need to address this to give your visitors a better experience. Apart from this it's a beautiful place to visit. Very tranquil and only a 20 minute stroll from the Osterley tube station on the Piccadilly line. It's well worth a visit.

It’s good that the house has been protected when sandwiched between the M4 on one side and the Heathrow flight path overhead. I had a lovely walk in the paid-for gardens when the bluebells were out and throughly enjoyed it. Much attention has been paid to the garden, which is just a well because the inside of house was a disappointment. Lovely rooms to explore but not very much of it at all. If you wanted to know about the history of the house, you had to buy a guide book. I felt a bit short-changed.

We visited for a day out as we hadn't been to Osterley before. Looking on the website before going we saw the following: " Please note that due to a large scale conservation project, the Long Gallery and Entrance Hall will remain closed." - Fair enough, that's notice that a couple of rooms are closed.
This is not what you find when you get there. An entire wing is closed, meaning you can't access 6 rooms rather than just 2. There were other rooms closed as well. The closed rooms are (according to the volunteers) the best, and most complete Adam rooms in the building, and we probably would not have gone had we known.
It is disappointing that the National Trust are not open about the actual extent of the closure.
The rooms that were open are sparse - there is little furniture and you mostly walk on bare floorboards. Rooms may have one or two bits of furniture and some pictures on the wall.
The grounds are nice, but the gardens could do with some more signage, and there were no maps available to allow you to plan where to go.

Sitting in T3 at Heathrow today, with 6 hours to kill. Looked at the local area and Osterley jumped out. A quick trip down the Picadilly line (note the amazing Osterley art deco tube station) and a 6 minute walk and you are there.
The park lands were amazing. Didn't have time to go round the main house, but it is Robert Adam at his best.
The café is a wonderful conversion of the stables and has a great choice and friendly staff.
Will be back!

I was somewhat underwhelmed. The house felt rather tired, and the pictures are not of great interest. There is no real sense of a house that was lived in.
The volunteer room stewards do a very good job.
The gardens are pleasant, but not worth paying extra for.
The park and lake are lovely.
Car parking is £7, regardless of the length of stay.

Are the bluebells out now? When will they be at their best? I'm away from May 2 `- May 10 and I'm frightened I'll miss them, but I could come this Friday if they are out already.

The website says £7 for parking but it might be best to phone them +442082325050 to be sure. Also, they might then clarify the website.

My wife and I and our grandson have tickets for Jurassic Kingdom tomorrow at Osterley House. Can anyone tell me whether or not the tickets for the dinosaur attraction also includes entry to the house??

Sorry, But NO. The attraction is on the grounds, but the house is Nationa Trust. The toilets will be open but everything else you will need to pay for.

Hi, I went there by metro, it's on the Piccadilly line, the park is few minutes by walk from the tube station, when you go out the station turn on your left, go straight, and then turn left again.. It will take 7-10 mns to get there..
