What a lovely find…. A very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. We sat in the cocktail area which was perfect for a couple of old friends meeting for a ‘catch up’. The coffee and cake were both delicious with a good selection of choice. I look forward to my next visit.

We dined as a family of 8 on the 3rd November at 5;15pm, we could not fault the service we were provided and cannot rate the young lady who served us high enough. She was very attentive ensuring we had everything we needed for our meal and she was absolutely amazing with my daughter, Grace , playing with her while i had my meal, my daughter loved the attention she received! The lady went above and beyond!. Because we dined before 6pm we got a choice of both menues , which was a bonus, amongst us we had beef brisket pie, fish and chips and chicken supreme, to follow we had cheesecake, apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding. The food was delicious, good quality, good portion sizes and and we were served in a timely manner. We will definitely be returning.

Used to visit this restaurant regularly never had a complaint but after the reopening we waited over a hour for our meals and they forgot my friends order completely! Wasn't apologetic at all there is no friendly faces left. Staff are miserable asking for decaf and alternative milk was a huge issue! I asked a member of staff where the staff are that were here before and she told us that the main owners sacked them all for bullying! How unprofessional is that! Food has gone down hill but prices have gone up! Won't be returning

A very disappointing experience unfortunately.The restaurant itself looks really inviting,the decor is wonderful.There were seven of us, myself,wife,son and partner and our three grandchildren.The menu appeared pretty comprehensive but the first letdown was that the choices for three of our party were unavailable.Not to much of a problem so other meals were chosen.The wait to be served was over an hour which is totally unacceptable.Delivery to our table came eventually but not within a period of time when we could all wat together.In fact,my wife's choice of meal did not turn up while the rest of us finished ours so she cancelled it.My choice of burger was uninspiring as there appeared to be a total lack of seasoning.The waitresses were very apologetic for the wait and we we told that their main chef had not turned up that day so they were at sixes and sevens.I understand that the restaurant has only reopened early October after considerable refurbishment.Maybe just teething problems:the staff were all very friendly and apologetic, but considerable improvements must be made.I would hope to eat with you again in the future and trust that it will be an acceptable dining experience.

Terrible they must be writing there own reviews it was over priced under staffed ridiculous food buy separate. Gravy £ beet £14 potato’s £4 what a complete farce was once good had its day look around its empty all others a full just a few older pensioners drinking vey expensive drinks eating cake from local bakery terrible

We’ve just been to the Old School, Messingham for lunch. This popular cafe and bar is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and us also available for private hire. It is under new management and just re-opened a few days ago.
We loved the menu, there were lots of lovely choices for lunch and we found it difficult to decide. We settled for shakshuka (middle eastern style baked eggs), eggs royale (with spinach, smoked salmon and Hollandaise sauce, and a smoked salmon and prawn sandwich with salad and chunky chips, all washed down with a bottle of Pino Grigio. There were lots of homemade cakes and pastries for ‘afters’ - we chose the chocolate orange cake, and the mango and passion fruit cheesecake and both were delicious and very moist.
We had a lovely meal, in pretty surroundings with friendly and attentive staff. The cost was around £30 per person which we thought was good value for top class food.

Oh dear! What has happened to The Old School Resturaunt? My wife and I decided to call
in one morning for breakfast, poached egg on toast and a cappuccino for her and eggs
benedict and a latte for me. Having received the coffees which were consumed long (looonngg)
before the food arrived, about forty five minutes, in the meantime we noticed other couples
arriving after us but being served sooner than us. When the food arrived it was barely
warm and someone doesn't know what Eggs Benedict are as there was no Hollandaise sauce
on the plate and my Latte turned out to be a cappuccino without chocolate sprinkles. We
have visited The Old School Resturaunt on several occaisions but this experience has
put us off a return visit. The service has to be better than this to encourage people
to spend over £21 on a couple of coffees one muffin, some ham, two slices of toast and
four eggs served cold.

A really pleasant restaurant catering for all
Lunchtime meals were very good
