This was a truly.amazing trip.. The boat, the wonderful crew and the scenery were outstanding. The highlight for us was seeing the dolphins on both parts of the journey. Such a knowledgeable couple in charge of the boat and lovely people. The fantastic weather also.was a big bonus. Best money ever spent on a boat trip. DO NOT MISS...

A beautiful day cruising the bay across to Fowey from Mevagissey harbour.
Great friendly crew . A very pleasurable experience.
To top it off we were lucky to see dolphins on both sailings . Something we haven't seen in 26 yrs of visiting Mevagissey. One very happy family. Thank to you all.

Paid with two £20 notes and was short changed by £10. When I pointed this out he gave me the £10 no query and said 'not used to dealing in cash' whilst opening up his money belt FULL of cash. Seemed disingenuous. Ruined the trip for me.

Imagine our lovely crew members horror when he read your review this morning.
Paul, is one of THE most GENUINE persons you could have the fortune of meeting. He is a well loved, infinitely loyal employee, who we are proud to have on our team.
Paul has explained to us exactly how he was chatting to you, after you asked if your son could go in to the wheel house for the journey, and that he was admiring his DSLR camera. He mistakenly thought you'd given him £30, and upon checking realised that yes he had two twenties together as the last notes put in the bag. He apologised profusely and immediately gave you the £10. In his embarrassment, he said "we don't take much cash these days", and yes you are right, as well as the float which we always have in the bag, a few passengers before you had paid in cash. But, cash makes up approx 10% of our monetary exchange, some days seeing none at all!
The ticketing process is actually quite difficult to do while chatting to people, and we all make mistakes sometimes, because - we are human! We have no issue with rectifying any problems and apologising for simple mistakes.
We are very sorry to hear that Paul's genuine mistake "ruined the trip" for you... and even more sorry, that you you feel the need to shame a hard working and honest man.
Guilty of being too friendly, too chatty and a small lapse in concentration yes... purposely short changing you, disingenuous? Absolutely not.
I think your review says more about you as a person, than our little ferry team that we are incredibly proud of.

As nice a way as any to arrive in a harbourside town, this little ferry does pretty much everything it says in the tin. It gets you there, it takes you back, it's on time, frankly what more do you want? Oh dolphins you say!! Alas there were none, but such is life.
£68 for a family of four means it's in keeping with all things Cornwall i.e. expensive, but it's a good deal more memorable than your normal ferry.

Hello Mr Honesty, and thank you for your thoughts... we are guessing the drop of a star was because the dolphins weren't to be seen on your trip maybe? We will get our best dolphin summoning dance on, if you ever decide to travel with us again 😉
Re prices, we can't comment for the whole of Cornwall, but we are consistently told that our fares are very reasonable, and we haven't raised the price in 3 years now! In fact, in 11 years the price has only increased by £3 for a return adult fare!
We look at all aspects of our pricing, one being what other boat trip you could take for an hour and a half of sea time covering 15 miles of our beautiful bays, for a mere £17 each adult return.
There are none that we aware of. And not only that, it gives you a day trip to explore either Mevagissey or Fowey, without the hassle of driving, car parking, tickets, etc.
I'm sure if you looked at the prices of entries to attractions here, you would struggle to find a day out, for 4 adults, for £68.
Our prices will have to be raised slightly next season, so we can keep giving our lovely crew the pay rise they deserve, keep up with increasing fuel prices, harbour dues, mooring fees, winter docking, servicing, parts, surveys, card machine fees ... the list is frighteningly endless.
I do hope this goes a little way to explain the costing to you, and any other potential passengers who might read these reviews 🙂
We will always remain as affordable as possible, and keep sharing this unique little ferry service with 1000's of lovely locals and visitors alike, for years to come 🤗

Fantastic day out. The Fowey to Megavissey ferrry is not to be missed - it is a great way to get from one lovely town to another. The journey is great, and the captain and Boatman are fantastic. Quite reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend.

We went on the return trip from Mevagissey to Fowey. On the late afternoon return we detoured and idled slowly around a school of dolphins who were intent on putting on a show. And what a show! The kids on board squealed with delight as the school breached and dived all around us. This is not just a ferry but a brilliant wildlife tour too 😂

Oh my goodness, what a pinch me moment on the Meva to Fowey ferry myself and family had!
Having never seen dolphins before, this would take a lot to beat!
We loved the trip so much, myself and my daughter took another round trip at the end of the sailing day all for the price of a single fare!
We watched the dolphins and their babies swim around and under the boat and it was magical.
Captain Chris and his companion crew mate were so friendly and was clear to see they too love the dolphins! They were also so respectful to them giving them space in their natural surroundings and choosing themselves to come close to the ferry.
We know seeing them can’t be guaranteed so seeing them was a true blessing.
Even without the dolphins, being out in Cornwall’s beautiful sea was glorious in itself.
We’re booking to go back and when we return, this is where we’re headed first (Meva to Fowey ferry).
Oh, mustn’t forget the trip to Fowey for the day was awesome too. We visited ‘Ready Money Beach’ went round the shops, ate and had a memorable day.
Also we were met in Meva bay upon return by the local seal who loved to show off his tumble skills. Remarkable!
Thank you Captain Cris and crew mate (sorry don’t know your name) you gave us a holiday to remember in our hearts forever!

Sorry in my opinion this ferry could not handle a wheel chair.
The problem unfortunately is a Mevagissey where access to the boat is via steps.

If you ask the crew before getting on they,ll give you an honest answer whether its choppy or not. We dont wish for anyone to be sick, hence if its looking a little rough, we wont sail for the day.

Hello Stuart, sorry for the delay in the reply, but incase you decide in the future to make this crossing, i hope this will help. If the weather is looking bad for the day, we wont be sailing, however, we have many days with no swell, which makes a very pleasant ride. If there is a swell, we tell everyone the sea conditions before departing, we wish for our guests to make the trip again,

Yes, we would certainly assist anyone with a disability, where we can. It would not be possible to go down the steps in Mevagissey in a wheelchair, but if its possible to carry them, then yes, we would help
