This sculpture in Hay is brilliant, I can't tell you how many times that photos of this end up in my feed on Facebook because when you are a traveller, you find traveller friends... and when I am not travelling, I live vicariously through them and their photos. 😊
Located right in the middle of Hay outside the Shire Council offices. This sculpture is here because in the 1920s and 1930s Susan Mc Grath regularly led mobs of sheep across the bridge of the Murrumbidgee. Susan oddly enough, had a pet sheep amongst the mob and this was the leader. ( Why am I getting visions of Shaun the Sheep).
So this sculpture is to remember her but the artist has incorporated a bit of fun into it... putting a hat on one sheep...or my favourite part of the sculpture is a sheep reading a book. It is utterly charming and should be seen by everyone who visits.
