A great ferry trip over to Tea Gardens. The ferry boat was great and not too big. The crew were very welcoming and it was so relaxing. We had a glimpse of dolphins, lots of pelicans and black swans and a white bellied sea eagle. On Tea Gardens a number of places were closed on a Tuesday. We had lunch at The Boat Shed, great location and good food. We caught the last ferry back and enjoyed the trip back to Nelson Bay. Highly recommend this ferry.

We were staying at Shoal Bay for a long weekend & we wanted to visit Tea Gardens.
Sure we could have driven there but why not take a ferry, especially as the time needed is much the same.
We bought the tickets at the info booth at Nelson Bay, hoped on, saw black swans, dolphins, pelicans, strolled up & down the Main Street, enjoyed lunch at Mumms on the Myall & was then whisked back home on a lovely old ferry.
All aboard!

We booked this ferry trip not knowing what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves enjoying a relaxing trip over to the lovely little town of Tea Gardens. On the way we spotted dolphins, pelicans and many black swans. We were given a very interesting commentary about the area and the boat itself.

Join this quaint old ferry and she takes you from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens (or the other way) and back. The timings are perfect for lunch at the old fashion Tea Gardens pub.
I've done this trip many times with visitors and have never failed to see a dolphin or two. It's still the best way to see Port Stephens.

We booked online which was really easy, quick and simple, had a really enjoyable trip which we decided to take the last ferry from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens and then back. There are a number of eateries available at Tea Gardens, coffee shops, fish and chips take away and a new pizza restaurant next to to pub which looks great.
Such a beautiful location and the best way to see Port Stephens, the staff were fantastic and the trip was very relaxing. We saw many dolphins and really enjoyed the afternoon. Highly recommended.

Was extremely disappointed that there was no safety briefing prior to sail as the boat was full and mainly passengers were over 60 years of age- I don't want to think would have happened had there been an incident on board

We sailed over to Tea Gardens on the ferry, had a lovely lunch and walk around, then back on the ferry to Nelson Bay.
The booking system was easy, the staff were friendly and the trip was very relaxing. We saw dolphins and sea birds and enjoyed it all.

Just a great professional and freindly service and great value for money. Cant thank Shane the captain enough for looking after us and making sure our connections both for the ferry at the end of the day and for out pick up to play golf at the start of the day Hawkes Nest were all secure. Even through follow up phone calls.
The ride back was very scenic and tranquil as the sun was setting over the bay.

Can you get from hawks nest to the beach easily from where the ferry docks?

It’s a bit of a walk. You have to cross the singing bridge and then go through hawks nest.

Hi there. We are very interested in knowing more about the Trip from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens. We would, however like to know how close the Tea gardens Hotel (For lunch) is from the Ferry wharf as we have a few in our group who have limited mobility. Are there many stairs involved.?

Hi Robert,
The ferry wharf is only about 50 metres to the pub and all flat. The wharf is ramped so no dramas with a wheel chair.
