Talk about overpriced and over rated
Lift tickets, food , Ned Kelly stuff
But hey we had a choice
No next time however, GO TO NZ better snow, more activities, better food that is priced reasonably , better transportation, roads

We go to Thredbo in January for the Blues Festival, it's a great weekend. Some of the venues get overcrowded but then you just move on to somewhere else or sit outside and listen there. We've been going to the Festival for about 20years have only missed due to bush fires for covid.

We were very surprised to learn that Thredbo is suited only to those who ski or snowboard. There is no play area for children and toboggans are not permitted. We were surprised to see so many families in this area was small children and toddlers and were left wondering what they do all day with their kids. We wanted to taboggan, build a snowman, play in the snow and quickly discovered that thredbo did not cater for this. The village was "meh" and clearly suited to the tourist dollar. We quickly left and went to perisher, where we had the best time ever. If u r primarily skiing or snowboarding I can see that Thredbo would be perfect but it definitely was not for us. Dead Horse Gap just up from Thredbo was full of snow and perfect to explore, play and taboggan in as well. We were super grateful to have some locals suggest to us to stop here.

A shameless money grab across the board. Boohoo.., everyone lost money during Covid! $80 for a steak, $7 for a coffee and $30 for a burger (on its own). No long term thinking here… people will ski elsewhere. What a joke!

A pacata vila aos pés das montanhas nevadas. Para os amantes do Ski e Snowboard é um lugar incrível com todas as opções nas estações de ski.

We are currently in Thredbo. All the restaurants are fully booked so we went to the ONLY supermarket to buy food to cook. Unfortunately, the supermarket was closed due to an 'internet error'. Fortunately that was not the case at Al Fresco pizza so we managed to order a take away pizza at 5.30pm and lucky we went when we did - by the time we waited 30 minutes for our pizza there were more than 30 people waiting for pizza. It seems they couldn't book into a restaurant or buy food at the supermarket either. An unbelievable state of affairs!
The availability and standard of food on the mountain is also pretty tragic this year.
Apparently, there are significant staff shortages causing many of these problems. We heard this is because the new mountain management has turned previous staff accommodation into B&B rentals so now staff have to drive from Jindabyne or Berridale. If you treat staff badly, they won't work for you! (and I won't even start on the cost of season passes in 2022)
My family has skied at Thredbo for more than 50 years. After 2 years of COVID there was an opportunity to come back with a bang - hard to imagine how you got it so wrong.

Thredbo Alpine Village is one of my favourite places to be. The atmosphere of the whole village is one people chase as they hit the slopes during the day and have a nice sit down by the fire at night. This trip was nothing but amazing with all Thredbo Staff being helpful, kind and 100/10. I applaud the Thredbo management for hiring such nice, caring and helpful staff for the 2022 season. From Thredbo owned restaurant workers to lift operators, the staff went above and beyond in helping guide, teach, instruct and point you towards the right direction. I am so amazed at the love and passion these people have for their jobs, I can’t wait to come back to the village and hopefully join this amazing team in the near further :)

Great location and ski experience but overpriced chair lift and ski lessons for beginners. The Guest Services are biased in cancelling and refunding very expensive ski lessons. Poorly organised during ski season. Ski lessons are popular as most tourists want to learn ski and are booked in advance. The beginners lessons donot include the escalator belt and they have to buy expensive $189 chair lift pass for all lifts in addition to paying separately for expensive ski lessons. The beginners escalator belt should be included in the ski lesson as they can't be expected to ski down from other chair lifts since they are learning. Since, they are paying for all chair lifts, some will be compelled to try using chair lifts meant for intermediate or advanced skiers, that is, blue level etc. This should lead to accidents. In case of accidents, I am sure that the Thredbo Authorities would like to show the disclaimers signed by poor beginners. So, chair lifts for yellow levels should be included in their tickets. I booked 2 consecutive lessons, not knowing what was involved in each 2 hour lessons. I couldn't do the second lesson, nor could I use any of the chair lifts as they require passengers with skis on. The Guest Services refused to give me a refund and was not helpful at all. So, I paid more than $600 for gear, lessons and chair lifts without using any of that. ACCC need to look at their business practices. Their Terms and Conditions refer to Consumer Laws but the Guest Service staff doesn't really follow it in their decision making. It is more to use it to their defence. This discourages the tourists to try sking. I also think that they try to ignore/trivialise the accidents. There has to be risk warnings and other precautionary prompt messages when booking online, especially for beginner skiers. Otherwise, it is a great ski resort and the teachers teach well.

If you have any mobility issues DO NOT stay anywhere in Thredbo village that is not on the main road into the village. The roads are too steep, mainly stairs down to the restaurants including the main hotel/ski/hiking areas. It’s so hard to drive around the upper roads you can’t even get your car out to go anywhere. Forget a wheelchair as there are only stairs from the hillside apartments and no lift near main hotel/shopping centre. I went out one night but after all the stairs to get down to the Alpine Hotel/shopping area, then back to the apartment, I could not leave it at all after that due to my back issues. A lot of super expensive apartment blocks with no lifts either. I generally stay and Lake Crackenback resort and this definitely showed me why it’s still a better option if you have mobility problems but ask for no stairs there as well. Not everyone is there to ski or snowboard/mountain bike.

Hi there,
Is early June a good time to expect snow? We're planning on booking ski lessons, the Thredbo resort itself is open however I'm unsure if there'd be snow then. Last year I hear there was little or no snow in June.
We'll mainly be looking to learn and I believe Friday flats is where we need to go?
Thanks.

If you want to be sure of good snow, go in July or August. There's nothing more disappointing than arriving for your holiday to find bare ground. It will certainly cost you less to go in June but it's a false economy if you can't guarantee what you're going for --- actual snow. Enjoy.

Howdy Sydney837, barb329 pretty much covered it, also take into consideration the wild life and traffic when travelling early in the morning, also look at catching the chair lift to the top and having a good look around and remember to take some cold weather snow cloths and shoes.
Cheers
