The road to get there leaves a lot to be desired (unless you like a challenge 😆). But the boulder field is very cool, a once in a lifetime sight to see. Walking out on the boulders isn’t too hard if you have decent balance.

If you are in the area, visit Boulder Field. It is an awesome experience even my teen boys were impressed. The boys enjoyed walking across all the the boulders. Even if you are unable to walk across the field, you can still take in the view. The drive is extremely rough with lots of potholes!

great experience, breathtaking and very few people in December. Very safe in Covid times. While the lake is currently closed; the views are amazing.

SUV recommended to get to the parking area. Dirt road with large holes. Beautiful view in fall, tree colors are amazing.

Cool place to see and explore. Getting there is kinda scary driving on dirt pebble road. I was afraid I was going to get a flat tire. But the road on the way out is way better. Once at the field, it was pretty cool. Just have to be careful on the rocks. Definitely have to be limber if you want to walk out on the rocks.
We went with 2 little kids. A 5 and 3 yr old. One adult was holding the 5yr old's hand, and 2 adults holding the 3 yr old's hand.

Easy to find. Spend a few hours there. Great education. Wonderful for kids. Makes you feel insignificant. Check out the dates of visitation painted on the rocks tht go bact to the 19th century.

On a weekend trip with my husband and a friend and we were hiking in Hickory Run State Park. This was a really cool thing to see. Difficult to walk on but many people were going pretty far out. The hike was very scenic

Interesting place. Might not be worth the rough dirt road unless you just have to see it. It looks just like the pictures. Wear good shoes. It's worth reading how the rocks were formed. Free

Wow! The pictures of Boulder Field do not do it justice. Mother Nature created this amazing field filed with boulders for acres and acres. We were so glad we made the trip although none of us were athletic enough venture out too far. Sitting on the boulders watching chipmunks appear and reappear was also very amusing.

Thanks for the reveiws, I have a special needs kiddo and need the quick way to ge to the boulder fields, then how to get to a picnic area that is shaded for lunch. Please advise for driving and parking.
Is there also some water activities for the teenagers?

you can drive right to Boulder Field .. park and walk down a very short, level path to the edge of boulder field and have a look (its awesome!) there is no need to climb on the rocks to enjoy this area - if you are so inclined, there is a trail around the rock field to see it from different angles - (my opinion here...) it looks pretty much the same everywhere so no need to do that trail unless you want to walk around a bit --- Hickory Run Park has many areas for picnicking-- drive around until you see what you like-- many places are easily accessible to all....Enjoy!
