Beautiful tower & grounds in Milford, PA. Easy to get to in Milford, plenty of parking & space for kids to run & explore the outside grounds. Check days/times for inside house tour. Staff helpful & knowledgable about the history of the Towers. A 2-4 hour stop should be enough time to explore & see all.

The mansion is nice and the garden is nice, but there is nothing special or outstanding about the place. The placement of modern day floor standing electric fans all over the place also ruins the atmosphere when you try to capture the historical ambience with your camera. Also unless you have a penchant for late 19th century architecture and history, you will find the docent's incessant talk, though quite knowledgeable, kind of boring.

We visited the towers and took the walking tour. It was an excellent experience. Lots of background on the Pinchot family (and their contributions to conservation/preservation). There are trails to enjoy nature hikes, and the view is spectacular (especially when fall colors are showing).

This was such an unexpected surprise that turned out to be one of our favorite visits. This castle is huge, beautiful and well cared for. The tour inside is a must because you see and learn so much about the families and history. The landscape and grounds are amazing and you have to see where they eat dinner at this summer house! The volunteers we spoke to and Linda, who was our tour guide, we’re all a wealth of information, and each from their own perspective and interests. This is a must go to place!

If you find yourself around Milford,PA this is a must visit to see! Beautiful grounds around the mansion. We wanted to tour the inside but it was closed. Walking around outside was definitely worth it though. Beautiful piece of history!

Get yourself to Milford, PA and visit this national historic site! It’s a lovely place to spend two or three hours wandering the beautiful grounds and touring the historic summer “cottage”. Our docent tour guide was so knowledgeable and did a wonderful job explaining the history of the property and the Pinchot family.

A very interesting place to visit. The gardens are extensive but not a lot of flowers. The guided tour tells you a lot about the house and its owners and is very interesting. Not many rooms to view but what you can see is nicely preserved and decorated.

Because I visit alot of historic locations, I was interested in visiting here. The garden/ grounds are lovely and I do recommend a walk around the property! But while I was hoping to walk or hike trails, there didnt seem to be any. The house was OK. The tour covers the first floor only since the rest of the house has not been restored. What was most distracting and annoying to me though was the rooms seeming cluttered with unnecessary, uninviting items of little consequence. I love photography and enjoy taking photos to share my experiences with others. But because of all the unnecessary small items it was very difficult to get clean photos. There always seemed to be something in the way. I believe less is more. With this said I would suggest taking the minutia away so people can focus on the less but more worthwhile items. However the tour guide was excellent and she shared alot of great information!

Within a half mile of the middle of Milford. Well worth a visit.

Can you walk to Grey Towers from downtown Milford?

We’ll it’s about a mile from Apple Valley restaurant which is by the road you go on to Grey Towers. Downtown would probably be another 1/2-1 mile estimating. The parking lot walk up to the castle is probably 1/4 mile with a bit of incline and some steps.
Is the mansion tour wheelchair accessible? And how long should we allow for a proper visit?

The tour begins in the back garden and then progresses into the home, touring only the first floors 3 formal areas. I would recommend contacting Grey Walls prior to your visit for specific parking and entry for a wheelchair. We parked in an upper lot, but I would hope there are closer spaces for handicapped vehicles. Also, if you have a National Parks, America the Beautiful Senior pass, bring it for a discount entrance fee. The tour lasts 1 hour and you can allow more time to explore the grounds independently.

Since there are no advance reservations for the tours, can I stop by in the morning, register for the 4 p.m. full house tour and then return later? My wife and I will be coming up from Phila. to visit High Point, the Pochunk boardwalk and do some short AT hikes during the day and am trying to plan an itinerary for the day. Thank you!

Tours are given on the hour beginning at 11 am and the last tour of the day is 4 pm. No reservations can be given, however we do suggest arriving at least 15 minutes early to purchase your ticket and make the walk from the parking lot.

Fees are &8 for adults; $7 seniors; $5 12-17; under 12 is free. We are about 45 minutes from Bushkill. Follow Route 209 into Milford.

The mansion tours are offered 7 days a week from Memorial Day through the end of October. The grounds are open year round. Check the website for additional special events, programs and tours through the year.
