We visited this place for the first time and really enjoyed the walking trail in the history. It's been on our list for awhile. It's a smaller park and trail compared to Fort Necessity And only took us about an hour to do the trail.

Got lost and had to walk on road to get back. Probably the cause was the missing bridge. Very rocky in places

This free location has plenty of parking available for your walk into history. There is a paved path to an overlook spot, then a rough terrain walk down to the skirmish site where George Washington and his forces had a surprise attack on French forces that started the French and Indian War and the overarching Seven Years' War that was fought throughout the globe between British and French forces along with their allies. Truly a stop worth making and plenty of information to read.

Be sure to see this either before or after Ft. Necessity. Imagine both world powers (France and England) sending folks into the deep woods to tell the other that the land is theirs! Meanwhile the Indians are looking at both of them and scratching their heads!

It drives the point home as so many historical events, that the small, by chance activities can blow up into life changing moments.

Walking in the exact footsteps of George Washington, standing upon the rocks where the shots were fired from, and being in the exact location of a major historical event is a bit overwhelming once you're there. As you park, you will notice numerous historical markers detailing the timeline and events that occurred some 200+ years ago. An easy walk takes you directly to "Washington's Rocks", and gives you the exact point of view from both the French and British perspectives. There are trails that are very easy to walk, and plenty of nature to take in. Standing on the very spot where the French and Indian War kicked off the Revolutionary War is hard for your mind to comprehend when you begin to imagine what it looked like during that conflict...right where you stand. How this place isn't a national destination is beyond me.

I can't overstate how this site isn't more centrally connected to our history, considering it really is the trigger for the French and Indian war, which directly sparked our own American Revolution. This spot is where Washington's allies bungled a sneak attack and killed a French officer, which led directly to Washington's failed fight at the much more famous fort necessity. This is such a small area, that when there you know you are walking where Washington walked, and trod directly in his footsteps. The rocky overlook provide you with the direct spot his troops pinned the French force down and flanked. Those rocks, Washington's rocks, should be a much more famous and celebrated location given how precisely you can be in such a historic location. The walk is an easy path from the parking, and loads of shade. Planting yourself in both the attacker and attacked positions truly tells the tale.

On our way to Ohiopyle State Park we spotted a sign for Jumonville Glen and turned in. Nice paved walk to the top of the glen. There are a number of plaques describing what happened here. Maybe this was the start of events that led to the American Revolution.

Nice little historical spot in the woods. Paved path down to the battle site. Mostly handicap accessible though the best views are a few steps from the path.

Colonel George Washington's first battle ever. It was against the French and he did not win. See the movie in the Visitor Center to get the entire context. The fort is a reconstruction. A small site but worth seeing. Very children friendly.
