I took a four day biking trip on the GAP trail, Pittsburgh to Cumberland, MD. The tour was exceptionally well organized with super guides. We had multiple support stops, beautiful accommodations and delicious meals, not to mention the great scenery enjoyed along the trail. We had a couple extras, like a side excursion to Falling Water, which was very nice. I highly recommend this outfitter and will definitely book another trip in the future.

Just completed a biking tour from the Vail Valley (Gypson, Co.) to Aspen, Co. with Wilderness Voyageurs. The weather, trails and scenery were wonderful. Surprisingly our elevation changes during our ride were very limited - great routing given we were in the Rockies. Our guides, Jason and Scott were outstanding! The equipment was first class, and they took the time to personalize the set up all our bikes to ensure we all were comfortable. The food prepared for ride meals was superb (thanks Jason!). Our hotel and restaurant choices were great. Everyone in our 6-couple group is definitely going to book another tour with Wilderness Voyageurs

Where to start with our review of this wonderful company and amazing trip - we’ll start with a shout out to Ralph & Rachel. They made the trip so much fun, made it so seamless for all 12 of the riders. They truly made the trip memorable, comfortable and full of great memories! Our accommodations were great, all the food was delicious (thanks to Ralph’s wife for the great chicken salad), support on the ride was professional and friendly. It was great to know we could catch a ride in the van should we need a break for any reason. This was my 4th bike trip with WV and we are already planning our 2025 trip! If you’re thinking about using them - just do it! You will have a great time!

We loved the Erie Canal West bike trip. Great guides, friendly group, lovely lodging & food as well as cooperative weather made for a perfect trip. Definitely planning another trip with Wilderness Voyageurs!

I kept telling our guides (Roger & Anna) that it is easily seen why Wilderness Voyagers gets so many 5-star reviews - ITS BECAUSE THEY DESERVE THEM ! ! ! From the ride (and the way ride with GPS works...), to the route (the trail and views are beautiful), to the daily ride briefings (what to expect on the trail and where snack and lunch stops would be) to the OUTSTANDING support at each snack or lunch stop, and the food and drink provided at each stop. To the support on the trail (we did have one individual who got a flat tire and the sweep rider of the day arrived and fixed it for him !). The lodging was excellent either trailside (our first night was literally 10 feet off the GAP trail), the 2 nights at the Summit Inn (with 2 pools and a 9-hole golf course), to the beautiful bed and breakfast in Meyersdale (with EXCELLENT home cooked breakfast AND dinner - this place is deserving of a 5-star review on its own merits). We rented bikes for this ride and they were in EXCELLENT condition and repair. We had no issue with our bike rentals (as I have in the past renting from a different company for a different ride). On a scale of 1-10 their rental bikes are definitely a 10 ! Prior to our first ride Roger & Anna were sure to make any necessary minor adjustments for sizing etc to ensure a perfect fit (which they were!). There really aren’t enough adjectives to adequately praise Wilderness Voyagers or our guides Roger & Anna for the beautiful ride my wife and I enjoyed and the “Royal” treatment we received for 5 days! Not being an “avid” bike rider my wife was a bit hesitant to embark on a 150 mile journey, but this (level 3) ride turned out to be perfect! We did rent e-bikes, so there were no issues in riding the 30-43 miles a day. I would recommend this particular 5 day GAP ride for a first time rider as it included 1 day without any riding. This day included a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater property in the morning and an afternoon to do as you please (in our group of 11, 2 went golfing, 3 went white water rafting – also with Wilderness Voyagers – 3 went hiking in Ohiopyle, 1 had his own vehicle in Ohiopyle and toured other Frank Lloyd Wright properties, and 2 enjoyed strolling around the quaint town of Ohiopyle. This was the perfect “introductory” biking tour with Wilderness Voyagers, and I am positive it will not be the last trip my wife and I take with them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! ! ! You should get a brochure and look at all the other various rides/trips that Wilderness Voyagers offers (as there are many, many to choose from). I KNOW we will DEFINEATLY be riding with them again ! ! !

This tour was a lot of fun, providing lovely camaraderie with fellow riders along with excellent overnight accommodations and cuisine. Relatively flat relaxed riding through beautiful “tunnels of trees” as well as railroad tunnels. The guides (Anna and Pat) were great. Snacks and lunch on the trail during the day were nicely prepared and presented. The portable hand-washing station set-up was something I'd never seen before, and was very much appreciated. The included tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater was enjoyable and educational.
I disliked the insecurity of not having any cellular coverage in most of the areas we traveled. While the locals are used to this (and the guides appropriately carry satellite phones), it would have been nice to advise guests well in advance. That way, family at home wouldn't have been so worried by my being incommunicado the first day until I was able to advise them accordingly. (Indeed, depending on necessity for communication with family, etc, a guest could arrange for sat phone rental in advance.) This lack of cellular coverage also made the ride more regimented, preventing me from being more independent to explore overlooks, waterfalls, etc. for longer periods of time without feeling rushed to always be ahead of the sweep-guide. I suppose this is necessary on a trail with limited points of sag-wagon access.
Overall, I would not hesitate to do a bike tour with this company again.

I cannot tell you how much I love this company. I have been on five bike trips with them and while every one of those has been a different experience, the consistency of the staff and the travel experience is always top notch. These trips are not cheap, but as someone who works 60+ hours a week, handing over all the thinking to someone else for a few days is worth every penny.

A fabulous trip. We did the GAP 4 day bike tour. Beautiful scenery, awesome accommodations, gourmet food and so much more. Our guides, Pat and Anna went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time, including getting e-bikes mid tour for a couple of struggling riders. The added bonus of a tour of Falling Waters was very impressive. Met some lovely people in our group and the format allowed us to get to know each other in a comfortable atmosphere. A perfect summer trip. The tree covered trail was very much appreciated on the hot and rainy days. Be sure to do some training beforehand. It’s mostly a flat route but not a trip to do cold turkey.

My wife and I are terrible at planning so we had Wilderness Voyageurs do it for us! An incredible 4 day rails to trails bike tour along the GAP trail. All we had to do was wake up, eat, bike, eat, bike, happy hour, eat, sleep, and repeat the next day. Our guides Jodi and Lea were amazing! Knowledgeable, helpful, safe, and entertaining. My wife had 2 flat tires and we were able to get the bike repaired and her back on the trail and even a tune up. Nothing held us back even when it rained. We got to know our group very well. Great experience that we're hoping to do again next year!

Amazing!! Not one bad thing to say. The environment, the guides and all employees were so great. I was a first time white water rafted. They made the experience easy and memorable. Highly recommend for a beautiful day!

It varied by day, 30 to 50, no steep hills, just rocks and mud really need a mountain bike for parts of this trail. If it’s been raining the trail can be treacherous

Hello, clbalek, Are you all adults? The Lower Yough, is a class 3 section of river that is appropriate for most people. The minimum age is 12, and there are a variety of trip formats to choose from. The Lower Yough is available every day from now until the end of October. call our reservations office at 800-272-4141 to talk about the various trip formats that are available.
