Awesome lake for kayaking! Easy access from many launches around lake, nice clean restrooms. Parking easy, no charge. Clean water, warm. Awesome area to pull off on land for lunch, picnic tables also available. No large boats, mostly pontoons and sailboats. Love it here!

well the camping area is really nice--------------headache hill is nice for viewing the scenery around you------------------always have nice programs going on for both children an adults----------------have a marina for every type of boats------can rent cabins but have to reserve way in advance--------people in area visiting are really nice-lots of nice rest. within driving distance-ice cream stores-----area to fish--------------public beach area---------water could be a little cleaner-but guess we'll blame that on mother nature-camp area where you swim is a lot nicer

As beautiful as any lake we visited in Europe! We rented a pontoon boat for the day and had a wonderful, relaxing day. The entire staff at the lake was top notch-super friendly and helpful.

We rented a pontoon boat from the marina and they were very helpful in showing me how to use it. The lake itself is large and very scenic.

Glendale is a beautiful lake in a very serene quiet country area. Glendale has a beautiful beach area with a playground area for children. There are trails and programs throughout the year. I've never stayed at the cabins or campgrounds but I hear they are quite nice with visitors returning every year. It is well kept in the midst of several small towns and about 25 miles away from Altoona. The area around the lake has several restaurants and a convenience store very close. Patton a town about 5 miles away has a Byzantine Catholic Church as well as a Roman Rite church along with several other Protestant churches. There are several types of stores nearby including a pharmacy. There are several other towns in proximity offering many of the services as Patton. So even if you're enjoying the quiet nature of the lake you're still close to towns for special needs. I am fortunate to live very close to the lake and can experience it everyday.

Prince Gallitzin State Park is a jewel in the rough. There are things to do all year round. You can rent a cabin and stay awhile, or just go up for the day. Lake Glendale is the perfect spot for sportsman. A quiet, fun filled spot for scapegoats, pontoons, kayaks, canoes, and even motor boats with small motors. You can fish in the spring, summer, or fall and ice fish in the winter. The park is great for hiking or nature walks. There is a picnic area, a camping area and even a swimming area. Great for families or even individuals to get away from it all. Truly a great vacation place.

I love Glendale! It is also known as Prince Gallitzin State Park. The lake is beautiful. Fun to walk around the marina or you can rent a pontoon boat. The walking trails are wonderful. The camping area is clean with a beach to swim and you can rent paddle boats there. The park has really nice cabins you can rent,too. It is wonderful just to drive around and look at the Fall colors. You can go up to the top of the water tower and on the same road there are lots of deer to see at sundown. Great place to drive around for free. Love to go on drives there!

We have stayed here several times. I like the layout of the campground. It's great for riding bikes. There's even a dirt track with hills for the kids to ride on--fun for parents too. There are all kinds of rentals by the lake. We enjoyed the playground, climbing the water tower, and swimming at the campground beach. Our favorite activity is visiting Miss Beth, the park naturalist. We've done several activities with her including disc golf, fishing, and hikes. The park is popular, but still worth a visit despite the crowds.

We discovered Prince Gallitzin State Park when we were looking for a modern cabin for a winter stay. The cabins there are fantastic and we had a great time despite the frigid weather and frozen lake, which lake was a sight to be seen, however.
So we wanted to see the park in the summertime and went there on the 4th of July weekend. The highlight of the weekend was our hike out Old Glendale Road Trail to see eagles in their nest with a spotting scope. We also drove around a bit to see some spots that we would like stop at on a future trip there.

Thought I heard there was a tour boat going out on Glendale Lake, but cannot find any evidence of that anywhere?

Yes. You can take your leashed dog(s) to the park. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches though.
There are many day/picnic areas in the park.
There is no fee to enter the park.
If you want to camp, there are some designated camp sites that allow pets.
Two cabins allow pets. However, those are very popular and usually first to be reserved. So, you may have to wait a year to get one.
