Our kids are getting on the older side for this museum being 8 and 9 but they still had a lot of fun. Lots of different areas for the kids to play and explore. Everything is interactive for the kids. They have an entire room that is just craft stuff. Yarn stuff, wire stuff, clay stuff, screen printing. There is a small water area on the third level as well that is great for younger kids, bring bathing suit or change of clothes. Just lots of teaching kids how things work and for them to be able to touch everything. We would recommend for kids under 10.

This children’s museum is so big! Plus the “lab” next door… you can easily arrive when it opens and stay til it closes.
We had my 6&8 year old niece and nephew and they LOVED the water area. DEFINITELY TAKE A CHANGE OF CLOTHES or even swim suits. It was so cool to see them explore. Ice table was rad.
The first floor had really cool hands on “crafts” that used creativity, recycled materials… but also a segment for painting and clay! We barely had them to explore outside.
I love being able to bring in our own lunch then buy a snack there. The parking is affordable and the hint about the Fish “you’re there” really helped! You can hang your coats/lunch bags in an area on the first floor so it’s convenient to the lunch room.
My favorite was the garage! We could have stayed there way longer than 45 min and I think we missed a room or two. Thank you for being part of the Science network.
The other thing I would say is having the staff on floor be more “aware” and less chatty/on their phone. In the water area these older (10-12 yo) kids were having a water throwing adventure and got people wet. We were not even near the water that could get us wet. The recycled material area was quite messy and difficult to navigate and there was a 3-4 year old using the glue gun on her own. I know it’s the parent’s job to parent but if staff are visible I would expect more mobile/interaction.
The kids want to go back with their little sister so see you again soon.

If you are reading this I assume you know what a children’s museum is. If not then realize it is not a museum but a place for kids to play and learn. My kids are 8 and 10. I have to admit we are about to age out of this but my 8 year old loved it. We spent 3-4 hours. The third floor is like a big water park and kids will get wet. I have been to many places like this and this is with the exception of Indianapolis l, the best one I have been to

Thank you for your review and we're happy you enjoyed your visit. If you didn't visit MuseumLab, our building next door with art and making for ages 10+, this would be the perfect place for your family. And there's a three-story climbing structure built inside! Check out museumlab.org - summer hours are daily, noon - 5 pm.

Great Museum for Children!! Very interactive, intellectual and stimulating.
Visited another Children's Museum in a much larger city (will not name) and Pittsburgh's had so much more to offer. There is a water area on the 3rd Floor so if you are worried about little one's getting wet suggest maybe bringing extra pair of clothes.

Great interactive childrens museum with lots to see and do. My 6 year old loves this place and always comes home tired but with so much knowledge in her head. They change things up often but even when they dont kids love working with circuits, doing the arts and crafts they have...last time was making shadow puppets. She loves the water room, and gravity room, and mail room, and just about everything. Its a great place to take the little ones

The pics and the ads online are not accurate to what is entailed at the museum. I went during a free admission month. I completely understand that because of the amount of visitors that we'd be able to participate or do everything. Says it can take about 3 hrs to walk through. For tiny children, MAYBE. My kiddo is 9 and when we walked the poor kid just look up like, "Really, Dad?!?!?" This is more of an explorer location for kids. Very little education, which constitutes a museum. Had lunch, and another yikes. 10 bucks for a new york slice sized personal pizza. 2 turkey sammies that were 11 and change that came with NO TURKEY. Seriously both were open faced with only lettuce leaves. Beware if you're kiddos are a little more mature, they nor you will enjoy yourself...parking on private site was atleast validated to match museum rates.

I visited for the sole purpose of Mr. Rogers memorabilia. I thought that Mr. Rogers infamous red sweater was located here, but it isn't. There is a sweater and a pair of shoes in the Mlab though. The Mlab has different hours than the main museum but it is included in admission to the main museum.

Went in August for "3 for free".
It is a lovely museum!
The water floor (3rd floor) is THE BEST, but I recommend bringing swimsuits and a towel or a change of clothes. AND visit that floor last.
The 2nd floor is for younger children (under 5). However, be sure just to visit shortly if you are a parent that loved the original Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger, among other puppets, are on display there.
The 1st floor has a 'garage' that is always a hit. It has balls, nuts and bolts with building things and climbing area with a slide.
There's also an exhibit in the back that changes seasonally. This time it was Wild Kratts. Though we love the tv show, the display was a bust. Things didn't work, they weren't very interactive. I was quite disappointed.
They have sensory exhibits all along the hallways that are really neat and fun to interact with.
There is another workshop that changes seasonally. This time it was making circuits and weaving.
Then near the entrance, there's an art room.
The lady with super short blonde hair, glasses, three nose piercing and was wearing a green and white long skirt yesterday on August 2nd was AMAZING! and SO KIND! She was running the screen printing center. I'm not sure her name, but I hope she sees this review!
There's also a place to get wildflower seeds. However, most of the seeds are too large and were jammed in the machine.
However, my daughter came on a school field trip here in May and planted the seeds she got here of black eyed Susan's. They're beautiful! and she will be entering them into our county fair next week.
This place is indeed EXPENSIVE for a family, but with this RAD campaign, it's sooooo very worth it!
Great for kids under 10.

Both our kids (2 and 9) had a such great time there! There is so much for both of them to do! Lots of crafts, art, science, mental and motor skill stimulation. They had nursing accommodations. The 3rd floor was for water play so bring towels (they did have gentle dryers - similar to a weak hair dryer that didn't scare my 2 year old but also didn't dry much). They had a smock by he still managed to get his shorts pretty drenched. There is a place to sit and eat and also a small area for outside play with a few more water features. I believe the second floor was a quiet area. Really well thought out!

We allowed 2 hours to visit the museum, expecting our almost 4 year old to last about 90 minutes. He was so enthralled, we never left the first floor when we heard the announcement it would close in 30 minutes. We got as far as the climbing maze on the way to the second floor and didn't make it any farther. Never saw the 3rd floor water area! Can't wait to return! The craft teachers were wonderful!

Are there lockers for rent inside the museum or can we leave our spare clothes bag in the car and exit and re-enter as needed?
撰写日期:2023年3月3日
We do have lockers off of the Art Studio for a small charge. You are also able to exit and re-enter as often as you like with your admission wristband.

Thank you for your interest in Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.
All of our exhibits have activities and features to appeal to toddlers and up. The Nursery area of the Museum was designed with infants and toddlers in mind and features train tables, a giant light bright wall, blocks and many tactile elements. In Waterplay, children can paint with water, play in spouting water pipes and an ice table, float boats in a channel and more. All of the other exhibits in the Children's Museum have an area with activities geared to our younger visitors.
You can also check our website calendar for programs for children 18 months and older.
Hope you can visit some time soon!

I am 18 and my mom and grandma and I have been to the Indianapolis Childrens museum and Rochester NY museum. Would we enjoy this one to ?

I think as adults you'd be better off going to the science center, Carnegie museum of natural history or art or the warhol. Pittsburgh's children's museum really is geared towards kids.

Is it possible to walk from here to the Heinz history center? I will be in town for just one day to visit and see as much Mr. Rodgers artifacts - and I prefer not to have to drive around the city all day- can it all be done by foot?

We are about 1.5 miles from the Heinz History Center, which Maps has as a 30-minute walk. It’s a fairly scenic walk, you can walk to PNC Park and cross over the Allegheny River on the Roberto Clemente Bridge or the Andy Warhol Bridge.

I drove, but according to googlemaps, to walk from the Heinz History Center to the Children's Museum, it is 1.3miles. So, if you're game for that walk, certainly. :)
I don't like driving in the city either, but I didn't find it to be bad to get from one to the other.

My kids are 1. So you feel like they would be interested or is it too interactive?
