This attraction is greatly accommodating for the specifics of coronatimes. Reservations have to be made in advance and they limit the number of visitors. All participants have to wear masks and comply with reasonable social distancing. You get to see the unique original early 20th century collection of furniture, household items and a specific interior decorating style. Interesting place to visit and go back to a few times especially during the frequent special events.

Lived in the area for a few years and passed the property many times. Finally stood in line for 45 minutes to view the mansion during the holiday tour. It was a festive afternoon with Santa and bell ringers and glowing lanterns. Went back with friends a few days later for the regular tour. We rang the front door bell and a few minutes later we were ushered in. It was a wonderful fact filled tour. The docent filled our heads with facts and info we did not hear when we were there for the holiday tour. It was an hour that tour that flew by. Will take more friends there and take advantage of other events.

This area is so full of history, my wife wanted to go here for her birthday, and so we did. The house is open year round and we had the tour guide to ourselves. The house was decorated for Christmas She was very knowledgeable and knew everything about the history of the house, the furnishings and the area. The has has been built in the 1700's, and has been expanded over the years.
People today could not live the life those people lived so long ago, however, they didn't know any different. Take your kids here and explain to them what life was like so long ago. George Washington even slept in a room here and looked out of the same window you will too.

Wow! How nice of you to give us such a glowing review! We so appreciate your enthusiasm and encouragement of others to visit here. Whether it's a staff member or one of our volunteers, we offer a tour that is tailored to your interests. We all cover the basics, but given a full hour, we can delve more deeply into the story here. With the servant's wing opened for several years now, we can also bring to life what it was like to be a employee here at the Mills. The comparison between a servant's life and those of the family is quite a contrast, but it also gives visitors perspective on what life was like in the early 1900's here in the US. By all means, please come back and bring other family and friends with you. We are open year-round and have changing exhibits in the Galleries too.

This site is well worth the visit! The tour was so informative. Furnishing are amazing and actually belonged to the family! It's hard to pick one thing that is the best part, as everything is amazing! The tour is about a hour long, but the time flies by and you wish for more time to take everything in. The second floor is not handicap accessible, but there is a lot to see downstairs.

Go glad you had a great experience on tour here. We are blessed with a rich history here and with so many furnishings and artifacts too. Samuel Pennypacker was a governor, historian, lawyer, author, genealogist, and collector of family artifacts and they are all here! Through guided tours, changing exhibits that reflect the story here, and seasonal events, we tell the story of this famous Pennsylvanian and the times he and his family lived in. Hope to see you again! Thank you!

Former Governor Samuel Pennypacker was a man ahead of his time. Not only did he collect and document the most amazing antiques, but the home is equipped with many "modern" upgrades not seen elsewhere for this period. Free and open to the public, enjoy an informative docent led tour, learn of the lifestyles of both the wealthy and their servants and see the newly renonvated servant's quarters where Washington once slept. My friend and I visited during Christmas and were delighted with the Gilded Age holiday decor, but there are regularly scheduled activities here throughout the year. Check the website.

So glad you came for Christmastime. It's a magical time inside the mansion as we reveal how the Pennypackers celebrated the holidays and how the Christmas we know of today all began. Come back soon!

Just another impressive set of grounds that are historically preserved. A once family farm that served as a stopping point for George Washington a day his troops. Very nice.

Our history here spans such a large time period. Our main focus is the early 1900's when Samuel Pennypacker and his family lived here, but we also have a Revolutionary War story here as General George Washington and 10,000 Continentals encamped here and marched into Philadelphia to attack the British at the Battle of Germantown. Plan to come back during the year as we offer quite a varied number of seasonal events and programs that touch on these early 20th century times. You won't be disappointed!

This is a beautiful house and property. The interior and furnishings of the house are 95% authentic which is uncommon. You can tour it for FREE which is also uncommon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. The property is lovely and very relaxing. They have a Civil War reenactment which we had been to many years ago but they still do them the first weekend in June. When we went it was excellent. There are also a lot of classes and events held there. Overall a fantastic site. A must see!
