Great golf experience with amazing views. The course was challenging but also enjoyable. There are sand traps and water hazards strategically placed throughout. The course gives the feel of a private club but is open to the public and can be enjoyed by average amateur golfers. There is a nice driving range, clubhouse, pro shop and grille. Rated as a top course in the area and reasonably priced for the experience the course offers.

Pace of play is not managed. If you enjoy 5.5 hr rd of golf you will enjoy HH National.

Played this track twice while in HH. Course was in very good shape, with greens rolling true. Traps, and fairways in excellent condition. Clubhouse staff and on course staff professional and positive. Pace on Sat PM and Thursday PM excellent. Good practice area. Gorgeous views on this course. Put it on your HH route.

The course is recovering well and on Saturday we played in 3.5 hours. This was super fast despite our foursome was playing with a beginner. A local, John Kristofferson joined us to make 4. He was nice and accommodating to our newbie and a good golfer. A lovely experience.

First time playing Hilton Head National. Very friendly staff. Very comfortable pace of play. Course was in nice condition. We will go to Hilton Head national again.

The course (except the greens) is in terrible condition. Simply awful. The tees are dirt. The fairway are poor. Fringe around green dead. All for $150. The staff needs to tell people that the course is struggling before you pay so you can decide whether to play elsewhere.
I have played this course many times *but not in the last few years). Historically it is usually one of the better conditioned courses in HHI area. Not so any more. Never again.

First time at HHNGC, very nice course. The staff were very friendly, check-in very easy. We had lunch before we went out, limited menu but the burger/fries were awsome. After lunch we hit some balls and putted. I asked the starter if they were on time, he said they were and he was just getting the last group of a 20 man group out. I did notice these guys loading up their alcohol before their round, should have been a clue of things to come.
Understanding it's still early in the season, the course was in remarkably good condition. The greens were very smooth and good speed. Absolutely no complaints about the course. We were playing at a good pace until the turn, we started backing up on tees. All of a sudden it started getting quite loud in front of us. It seems the alcohol had kicked in.
I'm not going to describe how ugly it got, I will just say that we waited 10 minutes on the 18th fairway for the green to clear. The whole group was waiting at the 18th and when the last group (in front of us) got to the green half of the guys waiting ran up on the green yelling and screaming like a bunch of 5 yr Olds.
The reason I bring this up is to point out the problems with putting large groups out in the middle of play. If it was me, I would schedule large groups either first off in the morning or last in the afternoon.
Other than that it was a good round, I would definitely play the course again but I would definitely ask if there were any group outings ahead of us.

Love this course , but I didn’t play on this semiannual trip to Blufton! I played 9 holes at Island West Golf Club this trip, rated it a 4 star course.

We scheduled a golf game for three foursomes at Hilton Head National. It had been more than five years since we had played on the course. The course is in great shape. The problem is the “marshals”. After 22 of us paid $70 each for a round we were subjected to harassment by the “marshal” starting at the first green. The guy said we would have to skip a hole. We ignored him and finished our round in the standard time of 4 hours. The next foursome in our group did comply despite the fact we were in tournament play. They then had to wait for us as we were teeing off at the next hole. Then the “marshal” said they should turn around and go back to play the whole they skipped! Very rude. Very full of himself. He ruined the game for twelve people. After our group leader insisted on a formal complaint, the assistant pro came out and apologized but we were not compensated. We all agreed that we would not play the course again.

We only paid $40 pp. I'm sure they'd give you a good group rate if you give them a call. They're very friendly and helpful there.
