Been coming here for 23 years. Used to be nice. Now just over crowded park that is not open nearly enough due to the fact that CCPRC never petitions the IOP government to expand hours of operation. Look at Folly Beach Park hours. Way too many people who do not even park in park using beach area and facilities. Way too many out of state people using parking lot. Tri County residents only from Memorial Day to Labor Day since this park is a direct hit off real estate taxes. Also, STOP BRINGING YOUR DOGS! They are not as cute as you think. Why do you think your dog needs a shower?

Folly Beach county park much better facility due to local government laws.

Chair and umbrella rental service is poor due to Local government apparently. Local laws will not allow them to carry the chairs or the umbrellas - only allowed to dig hole in sand. Bring your own. The chairs and umbrellas are rusted and should have been replaced 10 years ago. Beach is nice. They have bathrooms. Folly beach county park is much better.

Handicap bathroom!

It has been a 5 for many years. Now i have a handicap i require portable oxygen and it takes everything i have to get up to the bathroom even with oxygen on. Please put a bathroom on ground level for people like me. So far i can just manage everything else. I csn walk slowly to the beach but not to the bathroom. Please address this!

Nice Changing Rooms

The county park seems like the closest lot to park if you want to head to the beach. They offer public restroom facilities, outdoor showers for bodies & feet, and spacious family sized changing facilities as well.

Umbrella & chair rentals run $15 for umbrella, $10 per chair, or $30 for an umbrella and two chairs. There are picnic tables and a playground for kids.

When we went there (on a Monday), parking was $10 for the day.

Great Beach!

We live in the Charlotte area and enjoy going to IOP in the summer. The County park is a great area to park and has all the necessary services. Highly recommend!

Great and clean place to park for a day at the beach!

Great place to park your car for a day at the beach. It's got easy access, bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, and chair & umbrella rentals. Kept very clean as well. There were people changing trash bags throughout the day and also going around and picking up any trash they see left around. You get in/out access of the parking lot for the whole day as long as you show them your receipt. Get there early because it gets busy. There are lifeguards on duty guarding the area in front of the park.

Beautiful beach, outstanding facilities

Kudos to the County for maintaining such a nice public facility on a very beautiful stretch of beach. For $10 one can park here all day and enjoy one of the best beaches in the area. The beach itself is very level and easy to walk on.

Dogs are allowed on the beach as long as they are on leash.

The restrooms are very clean. There are also changing rooms, picnic tables and a snack bar.

Young kiddos? This is the beach for you!! Go early and get you a spot. Public restrooms, outdoor showers, lifeguard and umbrella and chair rentals.

Clean, Nice Facilities BUT Lousy Rental Policy/Procedure

I give the park a huge thumbs up for nice restroom facilities and great access to the beach, BUT a big thumbs down on the procedures for beach umbrella rentals. First, a renter MUST leave (surrender) his/her Driver License with the office upon purchasing the rental as a security deposit. This is not for potential umbrella theft. It's because the ONLY service the county park provides is drilling the hole for the umbrella. The renter must place the umbrella, then when departing the renter must physically return the umbrella. When the umbrella is returned, his/her Driver License will be released. Do yourself a favor and rent from the other rental place. TripAdvisor will not allow me to name the competitor, but they are in this same category of reviews. Know that the county park has rental "jurisdiction" over the beach area adjacent to them. So, you'll need to find an area in the OTHER rental place's beach service area, which is ether side of the county park's beach boundary - whatever that might be.

Nice restrooms/changing area

If you are visiting for the day, this is awesome! They have great restrooms and changing rooms. Plenty of parking! The playground is lame, but right on the beach!
