The square is open for farmers to sell their products every Saturday morning - the food is great and you can buy as much a you want....to cook or to can or freeze for later.

The town of Ninety Six was inhabited by Loyalists during the Revolutionary War. The earthen fort was built in a star formation by the British to protect the townspeople, although there were only about 100 inhabitants. The fort was besieged in 1781 by troops under the command of General Nathaniel Greene, but they were not successful in gaining access to the fort. As the citizens and the British troops evacuated the town, they set fire to all the buildings. There is a paved trail as well as gravel trails emanating from the main one. Along the trail are interpretive panels, historical information, and information about the town. This is an archeological and historical site of great importance. Highly recommended!

The town of Ninety Six sprang up after the British occupation of the old Ninety Six site, preserved as a National Monument just eats of town. It has many historical buildings and homes.
