Quaint small out of the way National Park Service Site. They preserve a tiny portion of the original home site, Snee Farm, of Charles Pinckney one of the Founding Fathers who helped write the Constitution. Highly educated. Fascinating to learn what important pieces of our Constitution that he contributed. There is a picnic area and shelter. A small walking trail. Meticulously manicured grounds that are a pleasure to walk. The house from 1828, not part of the original Snee Farm, serves as the visitor center. The only negative is they are short staffed so call ahead to see if they are open.

A beautiful site and well maintained grounds. Was very disappointed that the home is not open everyday. Rangers only on site on the weekends. Wish I would have known this before making the trip out there. Definitely worth a visit IF you can access everything.

The Snee Farm site in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, across the Cooper River from Charleston, is worth a visit because it preserves a portion of Charles Pinckney's plantation and country retreat and offers visitors a perspective of life in the 1700s. Located about 10 miles northeast of Charleston, on 25 acres of Wando Neck, a peninsula formed at the confluence of the Wando and Cooper rivers, the property known as the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site includes the main house, a barn, corncrib and caretaker's residence. Pinckney was a member of a prominent political family in South Carolina, fought in the Revolutionary War and served as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention where he contributed to the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. He inherited the 715-acre Snee Farm from his father in 1782. When Lowcountry planter William Mathews bought the property in 1828, he demolished the existing buildings and built a new main house on the site of the earlier foundations. Today's cottage is typical of the 1800s, a rectangular exterior with a side-gable roof, full-width front porch and a brick pier foundation and an interior featuring elaborate moulding, paneling and other decorative details. Because the site no longer has any structures associated with the Pinckneys, details of their time on the property are limited to archaeological and documentary work. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Great little historic site that is part of the NPS. Beautiful grounds has trails and markers that allow you to walk around what is left of the planation. Pinckney was a founding father who signed the US Constituion. A film and exhibits in the house helps one to learn more about him and his contributions to South carolina and United States history. The 1828 house was built after he passed. Still, quite stunning inside. Ranger on duty was very nice. Picnic tables and shelter on the proprty. Very clean restrooms. This is a wonderful place to visit.

Still a really nice, but small NHS to visit. Great place to walk. As stated, the home is closed to tours due to covid, but there are information stops all around. This is not the original house. They have left National park passport stamps at the back door of the home. Worth a stop and not crowded at all.

We learned about Charles Pinckney, a bigger deal than we expected among the Founders. But there's not much to this site--the house isn't Pinckney's original house, and it's currently closed due to COVID anyway. I appreciated that they had left a little basket of national park passport stamps on the front porch.

There is not much to see here. This "National Historic Site" sports the usual collection of National Park Service interpretive signs and has a few small walking trails around the property. My wife and I spent aroudn an hour here reading the signs and walking the paths. For all of the road signs on the local highways I expected there to be more here in terms of information and interpretive sites ... instead this to me is just another National Park property of minor historical significance that pulls money and resources away from more deserving sites. This site would be better served in the hands of a local or state government entity.

This is a small park. Currently, the house/museum is closed to visitors. Thankfully, the bathrooms are open. The main trails/paths we walked are not long. There is a very nice path that connects to a short boardwalk. Dogs are welcome. There are tables for picnicking.

This is a terrific, free, stop if you're in the area. Who knew that Charles Pinckney was so influential in shaping the U.S. Constitution. As at other excellent Visitor Centers, there is a short film to view, preferably, before you walk through the house.

Pick up a "Trail Guide" and walk the grounds......beautiful and well maintained.
