I’ve played golf at Saunton several times before and the courses just get better and better. It’s always a pleasure to play here in any weather.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, whether serving in the clubhouse or working g in the office and behind the scenes.
Particular shout out to Will Smith, who went above and beyond in helping me when I had a problem charging my EV.

Headed off to Saunton with great expectation and came back so disappointed as the courses were not in great condition, daisies on fairways made it so hard to pick up balls and not a good sign. The courses were very average and to see both Saunton courses so highly rated was bemusing compared to other courses we've played.

Three of us booked via the Atlantic Links Golf Tours company with a round at Saunton East and another the following day at RND.
It was a fantastic experience at Saunton. The club staff were very welcoming, the clubhouse was fantastic and the food was spot on.
Now to the golf … the course was very well presented and extremely challenging. Links golf is not something I’m used to but I was hoping for something slightly more forgiving for a wayward shot. The rough in August is apparently very tough …. I found it to be the case and some friendly members said the same. I resorted to irons off the tee in the end because if you were off the fairway you were lucky to find your ball. If I was to visit again I would maybe go earlier in the year. But it’s still a 5* for me … I can’t deduct just because of my game.

I was enjoying my afternoon on the golf course very much, that was until I saw 2 of the younger restaurant staff members smoking illegal substances after there shift still in work uniform. I was appalled and shocked. will not be visiting again and heavily disappointed.

Our group of 11 played Saunton West. Thankfully the weather gods looked after us, with slight breeze and no rain. All the staff from pro shop, starter, and catering staff were very welcoming and helpful. They made our day one to remember, a credit to Saunton Golf Club. We played the West, many different holes to keep you thinking. Greens were superb, as was the condition of the course. One of the best courses we have played, a must if your in the area. We will definitely be returning soon. Thank you Saunton Golf Club for a fantastic day.

Both of the courses are a real challenge. The East is the harder of the two but the West is really interesting with a great variety of holes. The greens are very good and there can be some wicked pin positions. We played the West on a damp day but the course drains well and there was little wind. The East was played on a bright windy day. It eas great to be out but the combination of wind and course design made it a least 6 shots harder. But both were a delight to play.
The Clubhouse is very comfortable and the staff friendly. A wonderful pro shop. By the way the course guides on the website are very good with sound advice, but I would suggest buying a course planner for each course as there are some nuances that are not immediately obvious, particularly if a pin is placed in a tight corner of a green.
Altogether great.

I had not been back here for 25+ years and have I missed out. 2 great courses. A fabulous welcome and great food and service.... even in COVID times. The pro shop was really well kitted out and very very friendly and helpful. Will be back next year as a special place!

We visited Saunton Golf Club this weekend and were delayed with traffic travelling down. The Golf Club could not have been more accommodating. They changed our tee off time without any problem. They lent us a demonstration club too. The staff were lovely and polite and both courses were fabulous. Can't wait to get back there again.

Played both east and west this week
Both are great. Lovely condition with superb greens. A fantastic lay out
Pro shop service very good too. Not cheap but definitely a bucket list venue
Only thing letting it down was slow service in bar afterwards. Not the fault of the lady serving as she was on her own though. Bizarrely though the kitchen shut at 3pm on a day when the courses were full which was a shame
Don’t let this put you off though. They are great golf courses and we really enjoyed them. IMO east is better than west. But both were really good

If you only have time to play one golf course, play the East Course.... stunning.
Greens were fast and true, fairways well presented, tee boxes well maintained... staff first class

I am looking to visit next year with some friends on a golf trip to North Devon but will only be playing one of the courses at Saunton. It seems that the East course is the better of the 2 courses, which course would the members choose?

We have 2 unbelievable links courses. The zest is the oldest and has hosted most of the championships held at Saunton. The west course is a fabulous links course in its own right. The East is wider, longer, with some severe greens and run offs. The west is shorter but takes a more strategic approach is it is very tight in some areas.
You will not be disappointed with whichever course you choose
