It is a gorgeous place. Total heaven for children with a huge amount to do. Only reason it is not 5 star is because the entry prices have been whacked up. The restaurant food is ludicrously expensive now and all fried food with no simple food like panini or sandwiches. Coffee from machines at outlets is vile. Still a truly fabulous place though.

Fantastic campsite. We stayed on an electric pitch with friends next to us and we had plenty of space as the pitch alongside looks to be kept free so we didn’t feel cramped or crowded. We were next to the water station and pretty close to the toilets and showers. Plenty of toilets and showers so no queues and showers had good space and allowed for clothes to be hung without getting wet, weirdly there are small holes in some showers which was a bit weird if someone wanted to peek through but must be there for a reason. Toilets and showers cleaned 3 times a day which was needed as with the damp mornings lots of grass came in.
Lots of activities for free and also paid activities. Zip wire was great but feel 2 goes would have been better value for money. The high ropes was best value for money and climbing and caving least value. Canoeing and kayaking was fun but the lake isn’t a lake and they have too many bookings making it pretty busy.
Splash area is great and free and a good cafe for drinks and snacks (expensive but most places were). Shop useful for essentials but way too overpriced and restaurant again overpriced for the quality of food although the free salad bowl was a bonus. Takeaway options is a nice touch and handy if you don’t want to cook but the takeaway area was huge and like someone said maybe make a bigger shop with better value.
It’s great you can get to the river from the campsite and we enjoyed being able to use the river for the paddle board.

First stay at the River Dart.
On the whole we loved it. We camped with our tent on the village green. We found the pitches generous in size and we have a large tent.
So much for the kids to do, they loved it. My son loved the free bike track but Unfortunately couldn't use it as the bridge at the end covering the large ditch was gone and he couldn't lift his bike over it.
We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the takeaway, both lovely meals with excellent quick service.
Lovely clean facilities.
Only downside we found was the shop which for such a large site is very small with very little choice and very expensive. We felt a larger shop in place of the takeaway tent would be invaluable.
Also my husband and son who spent most of the week the river came home poorly, possibly a bug from the river water.
Despite this we had an amazing week away and would definitely return again.

We stayed here for first time in August 2022 with 11 and 12 year old children who enjoyed riding their bikes around the site. The freedom and safety of them being able to go to the facilities, use the free outdoor activities and the shop made the stay really different and enjoyable for them.
The park is beautifully kept and facilities clean and well placed.
Unfortunately the pitches are way too small, we felt crammed into this huge site, on top of our neighbours quite literally forced to park next to the guy ropes of neighbours on one side and our own ropes were next to our neighbours wheels.
The tents feel very cramped, on top of each other with no space to relax, you would never choose to pitch so close to someone else and hear every conversation with no space around you (I could hear my neighbour snore!).
For this reason we wouldn’t camp here again and my opinion to anyone asking would be that it’s over crowded so not recommended if you like to have some space around you!

We did a day visit to the country park from Cornwall. The park is lovely. So many different activities (free) for the kids to do. They loved the low ropes and the zip lines. We hadnt planned to swim but ended up buying costumes because the pirate lake looked so inviting.
Plenty of toilets around which were clean and drinks and snacks were reasonably priced (we took packed lunch so didn’t look at the full menu)
We also paid to hire canoes which was reasonably priced and great fun. Already planning to go back and camp next year.

We had a great time camping with the family and friends, the majority if the facilities were great and we had a very memorable weekend. However, as a couple with a young baby, we found nappy changing facilities were really lacking, we found a table in the disabled toilet by the lake, but nothing in the cafe / shop / arcade areas meaning at times we had to change her on the ground or on a bench.

Absolutely amazing camping week as usual. So much for all to do, amazing food in the sawmill, very friendly staff and shower block/toilets etc kept really clean. Only one down side.....our holiday came to an end! Already booked for next summer.

Just got back from a weeks camping trip here. Fabulous campsite, really good sized large pitches. Loads of activities for kids, river safe to play in and right next to campsite. Good powerful and free warm showers, cleanish but could have been nicer. Loads to do in local area, woodlands adventure park nearby was great fun for the kids. Bar and restaurant on site was ok but limited menu. Can’t wait to visit again!

I'm afraid I don't know - the website mentions not being able to smoke in the accommodation but I'm not sure about the park as a whole. I'd be surprised if not, given its size/outdoor nature, but they are helpful on the phone so I'd get in touch.

What do you think is the best field for camping please (electric pitch)? We have two boys age 5 and 9. On our first stay last year we were in Picnic Meadow, our tent backed onto a small stream. I think this year we’d enjoy being on the other side of Picnic Meadow (next to the river, under the trees) so we can have a swim in the river and net fish for tiddlers before breakfast, without having to cross other peoples pitches.
However as there are several camping fields I wondered which ones other people would recommend? We prefer peaceful over busy and don’t mind being further from the activities as long as we’re close to the river. Thanks so much.

We didn’t use the WiFi but the reception seemed to be good. My phone kept trying to connect to it in the tent, restaurant and around the park. I’m sure if you call reception they’ll try to get you a pitch where you can get it. It was good value at £2 for 24 hours (up to 3 devices). I didn’t think my son would survive without it but there is so much to do he just about managed.

It might be a bit too much for a 3 year old. The adventure playground and pirate ship are fantastic for 7-8 year olds. You need to be 8 to do the amazing high rope course. In the rain it’s not ideal it’s a very outdoors location. I’d suggest you wait for another 2-3 years. Our kids love it.
