Aww I'm SO glad youre still here Tivoli! I have amazing memories of this place from my childhood and teens, and i remember when it had wooden chairs wth brass ashtrays! There was an usherette and the adverts were classic. I believe it was a wartime cinema if not earlier and its worth saving. I will come home and see you again soon. I love you Tivoli cinema! Thank you for staying put.

Very helpful and lovely young lad called John (very handsome too) made our visit all the more worthwhile. The place could do with some modernisation and a fresh lick of paint!

I’m sorry, as a Tivertonian I feel like I’m committing high treason but I can’t lie, the Tivoli is an utter dump.
The area leading up to the front, the foyer and especially the cinema itself are all in desperate need of an intensive refurb. It looks and smells shabby. Inside the one screen cinema the chairs are often broken, mismatched and uncomfortable. There is a strong smell of damp and the floors are sticky and dirty. It is very dated and feels like it hasn’t much changed in the last 30 years or so. Vintage is great but the Tivoli wouldn’t look out of place in a Stephen King novel. It’s rarely even half full and on most occasions I’ve been in the last few years there have been less than a dozen people in the cinema.
And don’t even get me started on the toilets which are a staphylococcus infection waiting to happen. Absolutely grim - hold it in if you can!
It’s as though Merlin cinemas have given up on it. It either needs a large investment (it could be amazing) or it needs putting down.
I’ve also witnessed kids having sweets confiscated before they go in as they are not bought in house. The food and drink prices are extortionate - that’s why people smuggle stuff in!
The only redeeming factors are the ticket prices which are absolutely much cheaper than the larger, cleaner and more popular cinemas and the fact that it is on our Tivvy doorstep.

We love our Monday evening bargain visits to this great little cinema. Cosy, bit basic but welcoming staff and comfortable seating. Good cup of coffee!

I went to the Tivoli cinema yesterday with my daughter to see Toy Story 4, which we had both been very excited to see.
On arrival my meerkat movies app would not download as there was no WiFi and not good enough 3G signal at the cinema. Although the app was buffering I could not get a code. I showed the staff who suggested I try the high street for reception which I did three times but still could not get a good enough signal. Although we arrived 20 minutes early, by now the movie was about to start so I had no choice but to pay full admission. The staff were quite dismissive and could not suggest a way to help, except to state I should have screen shorted the code at home (20 miles away). They suggested I contact the regional manager which I did.
Unfortunately his response was even more unhelpful and dismissive. Although I advised that we are loyal customers he did not seem to care at all. I advised that the website should suggest that you screen shot the code in advance if they have no signal to allow you to do that on site, but he just suggested on another occasion I should order tickets on line. Not possible without a signal and too late once you have arrived at the cinema.
My daughter and I used to have loyalty member ship cards so are clearly committed regular uses.
This cinema clearly does not value its customers.

To witness the gentleman that works there keep sending families away that have brought a couple of bags of sweets in with them is awful! Not to mention the cinema is losing money!!!!

We visited on a Saturday to watch a mini merlins performance. Only £1.99 a ticket and with a child that doesn't do well with sitting still , this was great if she didn't last the whole time!! Able to bring in your own sweets if you like,if not it's cheap enough to buy there. Clean and tidy, a little cold so do bring a cardigan or coat.

This is a great 'local' theatre which we visited once more, with grandsons and boxes of popcorn! It is very 1950s (as I remember them!) in that it was fun, informal and gave excellent, personal service. The seating is really good with plenty of legroom (we'd booked in advance) and it's even licensed!! May not seem so from the location, but this is a really good little cinema which thankfully forgoes the noise, glitz and impersonal boredom of the over-stimulated multiplexes. Loved it.

Regular visitor here and have been for many years. There's a good selection of blockbusters through to event cinema for theatre. The children are always welcome at matinees and the access is good when I come with my friend who is a wheelchair user. The popcorn is reasonably priced and the old building full of character. They now serve booze and there is a great selection of chocolate and crisps. The movie magic card deal is good value. Would much rather come here than Odeon and Vues which are all the same.

Regular visitor here. Meerkat movies are valid here so we get a cheaper visit too. A little old, this adds to the character in my opinion. Will continue to visit
