Absolutely splendid experience for the whole family. We spent 3 hours there and were thoroughly entertained the whole time. Children's ages ranged from 2 - 8 and they had a great time. Adults enjoyed it too. Very good value for money and had both outside and inside facilities to keep the children occupied. They experienced 3 separate train rides, the bigger train, the smaller train and the little tram that they could drive themselves. So much to see and do - thoroughly recommend. Staff were friendly and helpful and even the station cat allowed himself to be stroked by eager little hands!

We had an absolutely fantastic time- our 3 year old didn't want to leave!
The staff were so friendly, and engaging- our little boy loved being given the opportunity to wave the flag to signal the train to go.
The unlimited train and narrow gauge rides included in admission was great fun, and a lot of care has been taken to fill every available space with little details. The miniature railways were a highlight for our son, and he spent most of the day going through the train carriages pressing the buttons to make the trains go. A huge thank you to the man who was responsible for checking that the miniature railway was working throughout the day, he engaged with our little boy and explained what he was doing when he didn't need to.
The addition of play coaches in old railway coaches was great and our son spent ages playing with the wooden trains. He had so much fun that he didn't even touch the sand pit or ball pit, which are normally his first choice options.
The gnome area was a fun surprise and the adults loved it (as did our son).
Absolutely fantastic value for money considering the amount of things there are to do. There are a couple of chargeable options (drive your own trains / ride ons) but these are very reasonably priced (£1 for Toby the Tram)- and as there is so much else to do you dont need to spend money on these activities.
There is a small indoor soft play (included in admission , but we didn't use it as there was souch else that our son wanted to do.
We were surprised that mini golf was included in the price- as most places charge for this as an extra.
We'll definitely recommend to any friends / family visiting the area, and will visit again if holidaying in Devon again. We all agree that I'd we lived into the area we would 100% get an annual membership.

What a morning!!!! We came up with our autistic child who loves trains and exploring. Everything felt very relaxed and there was no pressure on us to move away from things and the trains were run at regular times and the in door soft play he loved that aswell as the ball pit, will definitely becoming again. Well done to everyone who make the place run so smoothly

We visited the attraction with our two grandsons, ages 3 and 6 and stayed for five fun filled hours, having to prise them away. We thoroughly enjoyed the two sorts of train rides and seeing the gnomes. Our grandsons loved the soft play centre, outdoor play areas, model train set and the wooden toy train track area. The crazy golf and model village were great too. Welcoming staff, lovely inexpensive cafe, very clean throughout. We will return, definitely a success!

A miserable day weatherwise but the centre was open !! I wanted to visit here primarily to go on the 2 miniature railways there. Trains were running very regularly giving everyone as many rides as they wanted. A super small complex site. On site were model railways - so many and all operating well. Loads of stuff for kids to do - a day here is perfect for them. Cafe was very neat tidy and clean and I can recommend the toasted teacakes mmmm. The staff here are super - happy to chat and really pleasant. This is a great place to visit - fun for all

Had a brilliant day here with family today. Weather decidedly iffy so the perfect place to be as you're never far from shelter. Lots and lots of smaller individual things to do. Very good value given that we paid £38 to be entertained constantly for about 6 hours. Nice mixture of genuine rail heritage and activities for children. Staff very friendly. Through my own stupidity, I managed to lose my car keys whilst here and staff were infinitely patient and helpful in retrieving them. We always love coming here and will be back 👍

Myself and my 5 year old have been here on multiple occasions and it's always been an excellent day out for him (and me!)
Initially the site will look small, however its biggest selling points are the ride on trains. Unlike other sites the rides on these are unlimited and run every 20-30 minutes through the day. On the larger train the driver will offer a rider the chance to wave the flag to start the train which is a nice touch. There is a stop at a picnic area with a small park for children under 6, bigger kids will probably enjoy launching sticks/stones into the nearby river. The smaller train takes you through a funny gnome village again stopping at the picnic area.
There's a number of small play areas of various degrees of challenge around the place as well as a reasonably sized soft play area and a free to play mini golf area.
The carriages in the middle are a secret weapon for bad weather or parents wanting kids to burn energy off, there are a number of exhibits where buttons can be pressed to interact, and the other side houses two large layouts of wooden cars/trains, a well stocked sandpit and a ball pit. You can also find a small museum and a couple of video game units to play.
Outside there is another interactive model village and some pay to ride on cars, bumper dodgem cars and a Toby train. Stock up on 50p and £1 coins as you Child will want to do it a few times!
The cafe is a little steep price wise but given the number of free to use things it's not an unreasonable amount.
Lastly the staff are wonderfully polite, knowledgeable and incredibly caring for those children with additional needs. A recent visit was helped by one of the staff allowing my autistic son to enter in a quieter area without making a fuss.
I would highly recommend this place if you have children under the age of 10 or if they have an interest in trains!

This was a good pick for a day when dodging the rain was the thing! I must say this is a lovely activity for preschoolers and many adults were clearly enjoying it too.
We were impressed with the super bright cheery paintwork, everything was very clean including the toilets. The cafe is excellent value and our four year old was delighted with her lunch packet. Lovely staff all eager to please. Was touched to see them wiping seats so youngsters didn’t get too wet. So thoughtful.
Activities excellent. Good value…yes all these places are expensive but this was delighted. By the way, the restaurant next door also super!

A good day out with three generations, we all had a good time and enjoyed the various aspects of the attraction. The halloween trail was particularly good!

We had a bit of time to spare so popped in on spec. This is definitely a place for children, not a couple of adults. We were disappointed but the kids we saw seemed to be enjoying it.

Thank you for your review but I would disagree that we are only for children. There are a number of attractions aimed at adults too such as our extensive model railways housed in 3 standard gauge coaches, our historic narrow gauge railway, our Edwardian model village and our museum.

It is ok because much of it is indoors or under cover. The model railways are in former Mk1 standard gauge carriages; running trains are the narrow gauge steam railway (with covered coaches) and miniature. The odd shower will really hardly affect anything, especially if you take a brolly. And you can park very nearby too.

2 adults and 3 children can come in on a family ticket, costing £28.20 and then you will pay £6.90 for the extra child (assuming all the children are over 3 years old). Under 3s are free.
