Many routes around the Golden Cap estate but fundamentally a big walk up the tallest peak on the costal path. Amazing views but a good level of fitness is key!

The Golden Cap walk in Seatown, Dorset, offers some truly breathtaking views.
Beginning at the picturesque Seatown beach, the trail gradually ascends to the iconic Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England. The hike provides stunning panoramic views of the English Channel & the surrounding countryside.
The trail is well-maintained & easily accessible, suitable for beginners. The path passes through diverse landscapes, including rolling hillsides & wildflower meadows. The peaceful atmosphere & untouched natural beauty make it an ideal spot for a relaxing stroll or a challenging hike.
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the rich flora & fauna that thrive in this area, with beautiful wildflowers & plants.

Very lucky to live here. Beautiful walk across with views stretching miles. If visiting a must, take a flask.

We came here to have a bit of wander and check out the suitability for older family members. Easy to find, but beware single car width in place with passing places, so you might need to reverse to let others by! Worth the journey as the views from the cliff top are amazing. We also walked down the stone steps, then back up the hill, avoiding the 10k runners out this morning. And eventually ending back at our car.

Lovely walk. Steep walk up with a set of steps, but peaceful walk along the Jurassic coast.
Make sure you have cash available for the car park in case the card reader is not working.

The area really deserves the title aonb. The walk up to the cap is not for the frail but is well worth it for the views

We parked in Langdon Hill Carpark which is not signposted from the road. It's a great walk up to the top of the hill where there are some great views.

We parked at the NT carpark at climbed Golden Cap, on a very warm and clear day. Beautiful views from the top from Devon in the west, to Portland Bill in the east. After a picnic on the crest, we decided to take the coastal path west, climbed Stonebarrow, and the dropped down into Charmouth. A brief break there, and then we caught the bus back to Chideok, and walked back to retrieve our car. A warning! We were told after our safe return that the NT carpark is very prone to car break-ins. Although we were ok this time, I doubt we'll park there again. A lovely day.

Hi James,
The best way is to park in Langdon Woods (NT car park) and then walk through the woods (go straight on in the direction you have driven into the car park). After a fairly short flat walk you will see a signpost on the left pointing down a hill. This will take you into the valley and then up to Golden Cap. Langdon Woods is just off the A35, at the end a small lane on the left just after leaving Chideock in the direction of Lyme Regis, before you get to Felicity's Farm Shop. It is off the steep hill out of Chideock and you need to keep your eyes peeled for the turning, it is at the start of some dual carriageway. When you go down the lane, there is a turning to the left which takes you to the woods. The George in Chideock is a good place for lunch or of course you could walk down to Seatown or St Gabriel's if you want a longer walk. Have a great time.

All of these answers are good - it depends which way you prefer to approach from. If you walk from the west (Charmouth) towards Seatown you'll have earned a pint there at the Anchor Inn right by the beach and good food too. If you follow BoBBournemouth's route the Anchor is all the way to the end of the small street you'll turn into by the cream tea sign in Chideok. Enjoy!
