Went for a walk around the lake this morning, beautiful weather and views. Was utterly shocked to see that all the public toilets have been demolished and not even one replaced. The smell of urine in some areas of the park was disgusting, won’t be visiting this park very soon. I think the council should take into consideration that a public recreation area this size should be fitted with at least one public facility.

A lovely find. This venue had ample parking with an overview of the geese on the water. It was family friendly with access to a park and a huge tarmac track for cycling and scootering. Ice-cream van facilities all day.
Depending upon where you base yourself, can be a walk for the toilets.
There is lots of animal guano on the grass closer to the water bank but higher up, it's not so bad.
Be aware, you can only paddle board in the designated water sports area, this is not an open venue for paddle boarding.

I live close by and would like to use this park more, however, the amount of ‘bird mess’ on the pathways and grass areas is shocking. I’ve never once observed the pathways being cleaned. Surely this is a danger to health, particularly for young kids. I’ve been many times during the summer and the grassed area near the water is near unsuitable for sitting for the same reason.
That’s just one issue, the next is the obsession the council seems to have about adding speed bumps. I understand the purpose but to get to the beach park, I need to go over 29 speed bumps. Making it a truly unpleasant trip.
Once we get to the beach park, if there has been any rain for the past week, the swings etc are surrounded in mud, as no stone or wood chips have been put around them.
If the council spend half the money it cost for speed bumps, barriers, gates etc. on cleaning the pathways and making the play parks usable, things would be a lot better

It’s always a little overrun with rubbish but this visit was an exception. The park is truly disgusting. Rubbish floating in the edges of the water, along both sides of the pathway and no bins on the side opposite the cafe meant the area is overflowing with rubbish. It’s one of the most disgusting places to visit ever.
Shame on those not using bins.
Shame on the council, who have cut back shrubs (no obliterated shrubs) and even left the old rubbish sitting there.
It’s a true disgrace.
Revolting.

We had a lovely meal. All had carveries can't fault the food at all. Kids loved their chocolate heaven sundaes! All staff were friendly our server Michelle was fantastic would 100% reccomend to family and friends.

very nearby is alona hotel, also walking distance is motherwell in north lanakshire and hamilton town in south lanakshire..
over a bridge is the cycle route 74 to chatelrault lodge and country park around 2.5 miles or 30mins walk...
also asda, past sports grounds and the dukes of hamilton masoleum, around 15mins or 1.9 miles, over the loch, river bridge...
there is a roman site, near the sunk *old village, bothwellhaugh,
and other closeby country parks... via walking trails..
@ed explores scotland : the youtube channel..

I had only been here many years ago and only to the theme park. So I was delighted with this recent visit. The walks are lovely and so many wild fowl to see who are really quite tame. There was also the Roman Bath house remains and water facilities. We had a go on the pedalo and it is all very reasonable. The entertainment area was good although there did seem to be a fair amount of machines etc in need of some tlc. I thought this surprising considering the high season starts very soon. Unfortunately we did not come when the rides were open but another day. There is also the Amazonia small zoo, High Diving Pirates and High experience area. All of which we will revisit to see.
The cafe in the entertainment area was ok. Decent value for money although the small soft drinks were dear. Did not seem geared up to deal with busy times and forgot to bring our drinks when we were served or really for dietary restrictions as they seemed surprised to be asked about vegetarian food. Hopefully it’s simply a matter of experience for the young staff.
Overall I would really recommend visits for all ages to this nice park. Please do pay attention to the signs about swimming. The park do not suggest swimming at any time. We saw some people including small children in the water and this was worrying in two ways. Firstly there is a steep drop in the loch so could be dangerous. Also they currently have blue green algae bloom which can make swimmers unwell. I am an open water swimmer so would always avoid such areas if advised. Only as a matter of caution.

I come here frequently to walk round the loch with my friend. I just love the calm, relaxing water and in the summer I come with a kayaking club to enjoy getting out to paddle on it. Plenty to do and see with M&D's theme park, amusements and soft play and its restaurants and cafes inlcuding the new Monterey Jacks with its impressive cowboy interior. The road is no longer open to drive through the entire park so you can't go from Hamilton to Motherwell anymore or get to the Watersports Centre from the Hamilton end which is annoying. Well worth a visit though

Great place for an early morning walk or bike ride round the Loch. Lots of wildlife. Great place for summer picnics.

I am heading up for work and have my own paddle board, can I just use it on the Loch. It looks really open so was just going to pump up the board and head out, he website doesnt really specify...

I am unsure but what I did kast year in my holiday was contacted charity shops and got one and another on gumtree and gave into charity shop again at end of holiday hope this helps.
