There is a car park but quite a long walk up hill to the castle.
Only the exterior can be viewed and there are no facilities. It was still worth a stop as I was passing and there is some very fine stonework and the keep is still in tact.

A nice wee castle but still quiet intact and well looked after. The castle is of the beaten track but set in a picturesque area. The main car park is closed off but you have limited parking adjacent to the start of the footpath.

This is one of the better tower houses still standing in Scotland. Probably only Alloa Tower is better to visit because the interior is open for visits. With Balvaird Castle, you get to see the grounds and the remaining walls in which the tower stood. With its commanding view of the surrounding countryside, you get a sense of why the tower is located here. The main tower is inaccessible, but from the exterior it's largely intact. The guardhouse and the small tower opposite that are really the only parts of the building that can be explored, although the latter does have a spiral staircase that semi-safe to climb.
A bit out of the way to visit, but if you’re on the way to Perth, it’s worth a detour for it's historical, especially as part of the Tower Houses of Scotland route. There is a small car park on the A912 followed by a 5 minute walk up a path to the castle. The views are great once you get there. There's a few information boards at the castle and more than enough to give a sense of what the castle was like before it fell into ruins.

This place is a bit out of the way but if you are in the area it is worth making the ten minute walk from the roadside car park.
The castle is in quite good condition with the keep just about intact. There is no internal access. There are a few more scattered ruins around the keep.

It is not one of the most important castles in Scotland, but it is really charming! You can visit the ruins free of charge, it is easy to park the car somewhere next to the road. The ruins are not big, but they give you so many photos possibilities! We had really a great time here. Also, as it is not very popular destination, we were the only visitors at the time, which is not something you can get used to during castle tours.

Been travelling past the access road to this castle and have been meaning to have a look for awhile. After a meeting being cut short in Abernethy found myself an hour or so to drop in and have a look. It was not the best day, bit damp but then that is sometimes the best weather to visit Castles as it gives them a bit of atmosphere. Car park at the bottom of a tree lined approach to the castle which sits upon a small hill. The main central tower of the castle is fairly well preserved, the outer garden and courtyard walls are partly visible but you can get quite a good sense of what it must have looked like. There are a couple of information boards which give the background , story and history of the site. Did not get inside as it is only manned during the Summer so will need to return to have look in the main tower. This would be a nice place for a picnic on a good day, was no one else visiting when I was there so this is the benefit of visiting one of the lesser known Castles that are dotted around. Worth a visit!

Stopped to take a look during our recent tour not a lot of see but a nice short work and its set in a lovely setting - Certainly worth a stop

Although this castle is not in ruins, it can be viewed from the outside only. There is limited car parking space just off the A912 and a short walk up the hill to the castle from which there are good views of the surrounding countryside. Explanation boards have some of the details of the castle's history.

Balvaird Castle was built around the year 1500 for Sir Andrew Murray.
Had a drive up to here this mid afternoon.
The car park was closed but there was enough room to park at the side.
It is a good 0.25 to 0.3 mile walk up the driveway, not too strenuous, to the Castle.
The grounds and ruins are open, and free to the public at all times.
However, the tower-house itself was closed.
It would appear that some sort of works are in progress to the tower-house at the moment.
The Castle is owned by Historic Scotland.
Nice and peaceful location.
