It's a very interesting site with a huge amount of history. Definitely worth a visit if you're passing or nearby - I wouldn't suggest travelling for miles to see it as viewing it really does only take 10-15 minutes.

It's a short and easy walk from the car park. Accessibility is limited if you're in a wheelchair as there's a kissing gate and little bridge you have to walk over to get to the cairn.

Insect repellent a must...

One of the many cairns around the country. Nice to see, loved all the lambs running about and the drive towards it was very pretty. The journey is more important than the destination really goes here I think but it was nice to have seen it.

There is not much to see but the detail in the description adds a frisson to the visit.

This burial chamber was for a high status woman - identified by the stain her body left in the sand where it had lain since 4000BC.

There is limited parking and it is in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of chickens running around the road nearby but no toilets or infrastructure.

Strange little site but worth the visit to see an insight into life in the past.
Intriguing to think how this feat of engineering was built.

Think of the cairn as a museum exhibit. The whole thing can be seen in under 15 minutes and what you'll get out of it is entirely based on your interest in history.
I found it fascinating, Mrs H and the kids less so. The long and short is its an ancient grave site with a stone circle surrounding it. There is a sign at the entrance point detailing what it is and then you are free to explore it at your leisure.
You can crawl through the entrance to the cairn - Wear trousers though as its rough stone and murder on your knees in shorts. You can access the top of the cairn by walking up the outside of it but this is discouraged.
It is easy to reach from Drumnadrochit, Parking is free, there is no entry fee and there are no guides on site to answer any questions. Very much a see by yourself kind of deal, but lovely nonetheless.

Worth a visit, although we were expecting bigger standing stones. Watch out for the chickens on the road up to it!

We stopped off to have a quick look at the chambered cairn. Although there is nothing else there, it was very interesting to read about the cairns history and its use.

Before you get to the Glen Affric area, you will pass a small cairn – the Corrimony Chambered Cairn. As with other cairns we have seen, this one too is surrounded by a stone circle. It is just a mile or so off of the main road.

Do continue on, however, as it is well worth the time to vist the Glen Affric NNR area. Plodda Falls, in particular, is worth the drive alone.

Decided to visit here after looking up things to do near Drumnadrochit. It’s easy to find if you follow a map but the road sign is very much the worse for wear. The site itself is about 20 yards from a little car park and is very well maintained. It’s free to walk in. So silent and peaceful. You can crawl through the little tunnel into the burial chamber that is now open to the skies but once had a rock slab roof. There’s an interesting information board next to the cairn.

What compelled the people to erect these stones? What do the mean? How did they do this and why? Imagine the manpower and commitment to build these ancient structures. Imagine coming up with the idea and possessing the knowledge of how and where to place them. This place inspires awe and wonderment and sadness at the loss of all this ancient knowledge we can never hope to regain.
