Good area, tight parking!

Fairly good camping experience. Trails were nice and well marked, some good waterfall areas! The campsites were nice, we enjoyed the fire pits and camp tables being located behind the parking area for your camper. The camper parking is pretty tight we did not have room to open the canopy due to trees, and the sites are all pretty close together.

The park was the main reason we stayed in Manchester During the walk you could see parts of the wall built 500 years ago. Also at the end of the walk you could see remnants of the old mill. The only negative part and that is due to me. I started the walk incorrectly. It is best to stop at museum to get directions. The path follows several waterfalls. Also wear good hiking shoes. You have to climb down to see the falls.

Another interesting site

Easily found, has small museum and gift shop. You can stroll the interior perimeter or take your chances with the tree roots (but lovely shade and impressive view of the earthworks) around the outside. Side trips take you down to the rivers or of views of the waterfalls. With my gamey leg, it tested my limits but a young person should have no trouble.

It was an awesome place, the 3 water falls, the mounds and ceremonial area, plus all the trails. An interesting museum. Never went to such an old Hopewelian site before

Worth a stop to enjoy the trails

We stopped for about an hour while driving south out of Nashville. It was a great leg stretcher. The trails were wide and well groomed. The river and dam were lovely as were the mounds. Not sure I’d make a special trip but it was an enjoyable visit.

Fascinating introduction to the Woodland culture mounds

I stopped at a friend's suggestion -- so glad! A brief movie introduces the Woodland culture (1000BCE to 1000 CE, meaning that it preceded the more well-known Mississippian mounds). The small museum is largely geared to children. Afterwards, I walked to scenic waterfalls and ultimately entered the mound enclosure. Such a lovely, uncrowded spot -- excellent break when headed to Nashville. It offers plenty of parking and charges no entrance fee.

Place to break off your drive

Informative stroll in the woods. Nice trails small museum. Trails a little hard to walk on. No poor for disabled.

Don’t be fooled by the name. You won’t be visiting a military fort here, instead it’s a Native American site with beautiful scenery and several waterfalls. Great place to spend a day exploring and playing in the water!
