Well worth just a few minutes to take a look at nostalgia, I am sure they are still in the same condition as when they were first opened in 1899 at a build cost of £500

Beautiful toilets for the gents. Great to see how these looked in victorian times. Whilst not all areas are fully functioning they are still beautiful and amazing to see. Sadly it is only the gents toilets as the ladies are more modern but definitely not nice.

We visited Rothesay to go the Mount Stuart, which is a must see. But I was massively underwhelmed with the seafront. Most things are run down and closed down. The toilets are the best but and only the Gents and the ladies were minging. If you are in Wemyss Bay don’t get the ferry over for a walk round as there is nothing to do really, but if you are going to Mount Stuart do it as it’s amazing.

The Gents are an excellent example of Victorian public lavatories. The Ladies toilets, however, are more modern and less impressive but they do have showers.

It’s interesting to see what public toilets looked like in Victorian times, and indeed these are still working!!
My wife advised that the Ladies had been somewhat modernised but the Gents. we’re still pretty much original.
But, that’s it, time to move on…
We took the Bus Tour. Fabulous

Total surprise at finding such beautiful Victoria n toilets, so well preserved and cared for. I have to say the gents were much more elaborate than the ladies, well I had to check them both out, didn't I?!
Not just a tourist attraction, these are fully functioning loos and what's more they are FREE!!

Nipped in for a quick look and studied the amazing porcelain urinals and see though cisterns above. Beautiful tiled floors and old wash hand basins. A real step back in time experience that is free to enter.

I guess Paul b has answered the question. I honestly would not have known, as we only visited on a day trip. But well worth the 40p for a wee visit.
