Frankly for the $5 admission price, this has to be THE bargain of Memphis (and beyond). Collection is priceless. Even if you don't like Asian art (focus is on Chinese Qing jade, but not solely), prepare to be impressed. Jade ships, a jade carriage, malachite and ivory horses (almost an entire circus in various materials), and exploration of Chinese theatre puppets, the list goes on. I even saw kids enjoying this. there are more delecate pieces, more scholarly pieces, some decent signage. Just really really good - and it look like nothing from the street. It's all housed in the basement of an office building and pretty unassuming but you forget that once you go through. Don't miss the Judaica exhibit - you do not have to be of the faith to appreciate. And save some time for reflection and reading in the personal remberances of the Holocaust - this isn't a showy exhibit, just authentic recollections that hopefully remind us of of what others have gone through as we lament crabgrass, 6% inflation and the price of gas. Highly recommended.

What a gem! We got Groupon tickets for 2 and for the price didn’t expect much but we’re pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend

This museum houses an incredible amount of carved jade and should be called the "Jade Museum". Affordable, only $5.00 for seniors. Also houses art by current artists from Israel and an outstanding collection of memories of Holocaust survivors living in the Memphis area.

I can't begin to describe this museum. Rooms and rooms of ancient pieces carved from ivory and jade (some composed of single stones weighing 2 tons or more), Cloisonne, porcelain, and tapestry. One jade ship took 30 artisans 2 years to carve. We ran out of time to tour the Holocaust section. We'll be back! And it's very affordable. What a treasure in the Memphis area!

This museum is excellent. It is the best Asian art I have seen. The pieces are so impresive and many items are shown in pairs.

The Belz is comprised of an outstanding collection of Chinese artifacts. The setting in a downtown Memphis office building will not be their permanent home. They will someday be in a real museum setting and curated by the Brooks Museum of Art in their to-be-built riverside museum. Meanwhile, visitors who can ignore missing signage here or there, some rippled carpet, and a less than ideal display for these treasures will be thrilled at what the Belzes collected and brought back to Memphis.
I was there for two hours and really only saw one half of the museum. The other half of the museum includes Judaic art and a photographic portraits made of elderly Shoah survivors from Memphis.
I recommend a visit to this very special museum.

This museum must not be missed. The Asian collection is crazy extensive, comprising rooms and rooms of stunningly beautiful artwork - sculpture, ornamented vases and urns, embroidered robes and wall hangings - from dynasties extending over several millennia. The intricate ivory and jade carvings are exquisite in detail and breathtaking.
The Jewish art collection is also auite extensive and includes beautiful biblical, historical and domestic art, as well as Bible - based sculptures and ritual objects.

So much history in one place! Awed by how large and diverse the collection is. Had many meaningful conversations with my 17 and 19 yo. The detail in some of these works of art wete probably a lifetime of attention of many.

This is a hidden gem. Such amazing art to see. So much jade and other treasurers. Plus a holocast room that was disturbing but it is history. Very nice done.

Went with low expectations, left wowed!! Huge collection of magnificent jade and gem stone scultures, Asian dolls, art, and much more. Whole carriage carved of stone, just beautiful. Judaic art features huge bronze scultures/plaques that were equally impressive along with modern and ancient art and artifacts. Really wonderful museum.
