Lost history of Memphis.
2019年4月 • 夫妻情侣
We visited this Park on our last visit to see the statues & cannons from the civil war but unfortunately due to protests they have removed anything of interest in this park. No cannons or Monuments which is a pity because you can't change History by removing it, just learn from it.

Situated with views across the Mississippi this park is clean small but relaxing.
Few monuments and information plaques to read. Worth a stop if passing.

Lots of squirrels!

Well policed small park with some civil war memorials still intact, our dog went crazy with all the squirrels there must have been 20 in this small green area, the cop laughed at her and said all the dogs go nuts for the squirrels.

Interesting history

Small park, next to Mud Island park with a view of the Mississippi. Across from the Court Square with the Courtyard, Springhill and Renaissance Inns across the street. Not much to see but still nice. Not something to go out of your way for

Interesting Historical RiverBluff Park

Several cannons are set on concrete pads in the grassy area, inviting Visitors to approach for a closer look.

Note the Horse & Carriage traveling through the park.

I found the historical markers interesting reading. Author Elizabeth Avery Meriwether supported women’s suffrage & was granted the right to vote in the Election of 1872.

The Naval Battle of Memphis, 1862, described in detail, was pivotal in defining the future of Memphis & The South.

Also, there is a stone bench Memorial in honor of the famed Crockett's Rangers Civil War Unit.

I Was Expecting More
2017年8月 • 好友
I visited this park while in Memphis since it was right across the street from my hotel. There were some old cannons here as well as a few plaques with some Civil War-era stories; however, the highlight of this park was a giant statue of Jefferson Davis, which was built in 1964. During one of the nights I stayed there, there were some people in the park protesting the statue (yes, even though it is part of our history), and about 20 patrol cars showed up to breakup the protests. Additionally, a lot of the city's homeless population sleeps in this park at night, so if you are going to visit, it would probably only be advisable during the day.

Wonderful reminder of our national past

This park is a wonderful reminder of the strife and turmoil our country endeavored to ensure all men and women reserved equal rights and treatment under the law.

I highly recommend visiting!
