not too big but keeping in good condition and staff very nice. good for take time to visit also together with Courthouse Museum surely

Visited as a family. 15 year old son. Reasonable entry fee. I first visited this site on a school trip over 40 years ago. Originally brought up on Anglesey, I know live in Staffordshire, and whilst visiting my parents, I was really keen to revisit the Gaol with my son and wife.
We all really enjoyed the experience. The stories about the ex prisoners and staff are really interesting. The site is in a really well presented state. The current staff were really helpful and pleasant. Highly recommended.

Visited the Gaol amazing place would definitely recommend Roger the tour guide was excellent very friendly and informative gave a realistic look into what it would have been like to have lived in the old days, a truly great local attraction and excellent value for money.

We went as a family ages 8-65, we all enjoyed it. Reception ladies were very helpful and friendly they helped me get the best deal for our family of 7. The goal layout is easy to follow with lots of informative literature that was easy for children to understand. We were very lucky to bump into " the governor " he was a fabulous volunteer who gave us a brilliant account of prison life, thankyou for giving us your time. Yes I would recommend I wish we had time to do the court, maybe next time

We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely woman who took our payment and as a party of 9 with 3 children a wonderful and knowledgeable guide , Rodger, took us into the chapel. We received a very interesting and captivating history of the gaol and its inmates. The children were very interested in the stories of the ghosts and the dark solitary punishment room. It was a scary experience when Rodger took us in the room and turned the light off with the door closed. We had a great visit and it was made more interesting by Rodger’s enthusiasm and attention to detail. He has such a warm dementor towards visitors and the whole team at Beaumaris Gaol made it a great outing. We will be visiting again. Thank you to all.

Such an interesting visit made more personal by the real life stories of the prisoners that had been meticulously researched. Fascinating insight. Staff helpful and knowledgeable too.

Very interesting disused gaol with lots of detailed exhibits and information boards. You really feel the presence of the thousands of poor souls who passed through it's gates en route to their cells or transportation to Australia. The ingeniouity of some of the punishments is breathtaking.
As far as I know this is the only prison museum in the UK and a visit is essential in understanding the history of law and order

We purchased our tickets from the lovely Carole. She was actually the only member of staff running the attraction. Such a warm welcome from her and helped us with where to start and where the toilets were. She was friendly, chatty, and funny. So, a big shout out to Carole⚘️
The Gaol was brilliant and the best of the three attractions we visited. There is plenty to see, and you will read and see how hard it was for prisoners back then. Some of the convictions and punishments were sad and outrageous.
Purchase your ticket for the courthouse while you are there.

How much will it cost for a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) in July 2024? I can't find any price information anywhere

Hello, £19.50 for 2 adults 2 children. Worthy visit, especially guided.. there are a few awkward stairs "watch the kids" takes about 1. 1/2 hours for the tour. Parking is available out of main season on the side streets, otherwise you have to use the main town pay carpark which leaves you with a bit of an uphill hike.

Hoping to visit Beaumaris Gaol today Sun. 20/10. Please advise if is near the castle as we know the most suitable car park there for us. If not,,please advise. Disabled bays preferred. Thanks

There is a large car park on the see front right next to the castle. The court and gaol are within a few minutes walk from the castle. Enjoy.
