Could not review place as when we were in Laugharne for a week it was closed, and have to say it looked a bit neglected.

We are incredibly saddened to read that you were unaware that we are no longer open in this location. This closure is not of the organisations doing and is not a position we envisaged being in. Sorry for the disappointment and any inconvenience caused. We are currently in a dispute with the premises landlord and are very concerned that he has allowed the buildings to degrade as he has, especially as he has benefitted from receiving a substantial amount of work done with public Heritage Lottery Fund money. It is noted on here and on our website that we are currently closed and we have always asked visitors to contact us before visiting. We are working tirelessly to find a way to continue this incredible volunteer-based project elsewhere. We (Seimon, Min and the incredible volunteers) are in the process of relocating to Kidwelly and have formed a 'Community Interest Company' as agreed back in 2017 and are now called The History Shed Experience CIC. Please keep an eye on our new Facebook page for further information.

We come to Laugharne roughly every two years and have visited the Tin Shed each time since its opening. We walked up to visit last week only to find it closed with a blue van blocking the entrance.
We were looking forward to see the Lottery funded work completed on this visit.
From the roadside, the new roof looks great!
I bet the owner of the shed is very pleased with all of the renovations that the Tin Shed Team have been able to do for him.
As it transpires, it has not been able to reopen for this season.
This made me sad, when I'm sad, I eat, so I headed to the local eateries.

Over several delightful meals and long cold drinks with several friends I have made in Laugharne over the years I asked why the museum was closed and was stunned that the owner of the property had not allowed it to reopen this season. My friends informed me of the sad and unjust situation Simon and the shed team have found themselves in with the landlord. Their disappointment was as much as ours.

Staff of the three pubs and two restaurants I visited with my friends all told me how they have had many people comment on how sad they are to see this wonderful place come to such an end.

I really hope the Lottery grant officials follow up on this closure after having our public money spent to renovate the old place for the owners benefit.

I will miss listening to the stories about local people and their part in the wars, the old car and the privilege of being able to sit in it, sitting at the kitchen table in the cottage and looking through the cook books and thinking of all of the meals served at that table over the years. Looking at the fields and thinking of my grandmother and her time in the land army. Yes I may be able to do this in other museums but at the Tin Shed, with Simon and Min you were made to feel like you were more than an occasional visitor, you were more than a friend, you were treated like family. They valued our stories, our history and our memories became part of the experience for others that visited the Tin Shed Experience.

I pray that Simon, Min, the guide with a Welsh name and his wife are able to relocate the wonderful museum and continue their work in remembering the men and women that gave so much to enable us all to live the lives we live today.

I see via your website that you have a new name, The History Shed Experience. I wish you all the very best of luck in the future and be assured that the truth is out there in spite of a sad few individuals.

Take the opportunity to visit if you are in the area as it's a good snapshot of a period of history not seen in in this way in other ww locations. Make sure you give yourself enough time.

Oooh my god what has happened ??? We come down to South Wales twice each year. Discovered the tin shed about 4 years ago and always visit. This was the best museum we have ever been to. Wonderful staff with passion for what they did overflowing. It showed in what they did and the displays and talking to us the public.i know they had schools visit and the kids must have learnt so much that if would stay with them all their lives. Amazing displays - perfect in every detail. Our visit down there will never be complete again. I hope the tin shed may appear again or start up again as it's such a huge loss to the area and the whole if Wales.a great very very very large loss and travesty . The guys that ran this were amazing passionate and incrediably knowledgeable... i just need to go off and absorb this crazy loss .....

I never write reviews on places I've visited, restaurants I've eaten etc. but I felt I had to register on here today after hearing news that this gem of an attraction has been forced to close once and for all in Laugharne.
My family and I have visited this museum over the years and we have watched the development of the former dilapidated garage be reborn into a usable space.
We have seen music events take place here; we took part in the roaming audience in the BBC National Theatre of Wales production; watched Laugharne Players perform Under Milk Wood inside and outside the buildings. So much creativity and energy there.
We have been welcomed by Simon and Min each time like true friends. We have connected with friends, locals and visiting tourists, exchanging family stories. Have been introduced to volunteers Emyr and his wife over the last two years who have a wealth of knowledge on local history and of their sections in the museum. Marian on her treadle sewing machine was a sight my mother still talks fondly of.
Our last visit we were pleased to learn that they were completing their Lottery funded work and were looking forward to the coming new year and no more building work!
I know that obtaining grant funding comes with certain legal obligations and the funding bodies will expect a return in the attraction being open!
In the 10 years of visiting Laugharne we have found the last 7 the most welcoming. We have watched the Township evolve and renew itself with several businesses opening and seeming to thrive even during our economic downturn.
Throughout this the team within the Tin Shed Experience have always encouraged visitors to frequent the local shops, eateries, pubs, hotels and bed and breakfasts.
I know that the majority of their work at the Tin Shed was as unpaid volunteers. They worked tirelessly for their community and raised money for a variety of charities and local good causes.
When I talk to people about the Tin Shed Experience, it's about the intimacy of the exhibits, the unique experience of being able to get up close and personal to history, it's about how hard Simon, Min and the volunteers have worked over the years. I hear nothing but praise for them and their dedication.

For the landlord, to decide to change his mind on having the Tin Shed Experience at Belle Vue Garage after having all of this publicly funded grant work done to his property is despicable. Apparently there is a managerial conflict, regardless of that and any disagreements within, certain people should take a look at their behaviour and either take a step back from their egos and allow the true workers of the museum to continue to do their jobs. After all Simon and Min and their volunteers have made it a huge success so far!

I hope that Carmarthenshire County Council, Laugharne Corporation, Laugharne Community Council are able to work together to find another property/piece of land for this unique attraction to remain within the Township or County. If you look on here the Tin Shed Museum is the number one attraction in Carmarthenshire and number 5 museum in Wales. Can you really afford to lose this attraction?

As you can all see I feel quite passionately about this. So much so I had to write my first ever review at my despair of the closure of this delightful step back in time and culture. You will be missed and never forget that you Simon and Min, made the experience we have all enjoyed over the years utterly wonderfully unique and unforgettable. I wish you both and your team the best of luck in finding a location locally to move this wonderful museum to, if not locally please keep us all appraised on your new location.

I'm heartsick.

Found this as we walked down the main street. What an absolute gem of a place. It really is a great and interesting visit suitable for all ages. I can only say that the collection must have taken some time to source but its great and important that the history of WW1 and WW2 are shared with today's generation.

Superb museum with lots of exhibits, all of which are "hands on" . Simone has such great knowledge of bygone times and the local area as well. We took elderly parents who were reminiscing at each exhibit , mother in law showing us how she was placed in the "baby gas mask" . If in Laugharne - a must visit - well done to all the volunteers.

This is a WW 2 themed museum. It is expanding, so may be worth a visit in the future. It is in 2 parts. Outside is a 1940’s themed cottage complete with Anderson shelter, and inside the shed are military themed displays. The highlight is conversing with the curator, Simon, who is an incredibly interesting character. Well worth a visit if you get to talk to him.
