The Artspace Gallery holds one of Melbourne's most extensive municipal art collections The gallery is particularly rich in paintings from the late 18th century and early 20th century. The Arpspace Gallery openned in 2007. The collection contains more than 1,700 artworks of varying genres. The Town Hall is classified by the National Trust. It was completed in 1935 and remains one of Melbourne's most significant heritage buildings; it is still in frequent use for civic events.

My wife and I visited this place to have a look at an Art Exhibition called "Nature". There are displays of art works by members of the Melbourne Artists Association. Entry is free.
There are two paintings by Professor Chijian Ye that are excellent. One in particular, named "Waiting for my Coterie" is spectacular. This painting is done on a piece of silk. The price of this painting is $2,000.

Box Hill holds an important place in Australian art history. When young artists wanted to get out into the bush and paint, they took the tram to Box Hill, which was the end of the tram line. As a result, the Box Hill Town Hall's Art Space has an impressive collection of Australian Impressionist paintings. The Impressionists were probably the last artistic movement who created beautiful things. The Box Hill Town Hall was completed in 1935, when Box Hill was an outer suburb. The exterior is in Classical Revival style, while the interior is a fashionable Art Deco rendering of this popular between-the-wars movement.

The Box Hill Town Hall dates from 1935, when this splendid town hall was the centre of a proud lower middle class suburb, hardly an Asian restaurant in sight. In these thriving older suburbs, an admirable town hall was a matter of civic pride. The Box Hill Town Hall is built in neo Grec style, a neo-Classical Revival style, which accounts to the magfiicent columns out front. The Town Hall, which is classified by the National Trust, is a great venue for community events, which draw people frrom all over Melbourne. Art lovers will find the Artspace Gallery interesting, with its collection of early Australian Impressionist paintings.

Quite good hall for small festival.
Right next to a main road.
Issue will be limited parking.
Toilet is good for this kind of facility.

The town hall was built in 1934-1935 and stands out from the rest of Box Hill, now a mix of shopping centers and Chinese Resraurants.It is claimed to be Neo-Gred style and is regarded by the National Truus of historical significance. Inside the main hall is rather bland but interesting and worth a look as it is in contrast to what else is around.

This art deco hall complex has a modern, well supported gallery to display works from council's collection of local Impressionist artists who painted in the days when Box Hill was a rural end of the trainline, alternating with contemporary artists of all media.

Only been in Melbourne (Box Hill) for an hour or so and headed to the local shops to grab something to eat. On the way is the Town Hall, a wonderful and well-maintained building sitting loud and proud.

This historical building is glorious to view from the outside splendor and inside full of traditional design and historical settings. All spaces are equiped with modern audio facilities to hold any size event. Ours was a speaker with super afterwards. Staff were available afterhours to help with any issues.
