It really remind me of lots of cities in Belgium Flanders and Northen France Flanders. Most of them have magnificent belfry. It was a representation of wealth of these cities in the past. Most beautiful one are probably Gent (B), Bruges (B), Lille (F), Bailleul (F), Armentieres (F).......

It is big and reminded me of a Norman castle towards its peak. It does seem a bit overdone as a means of telling the time. It is worth noting how Manifold became wealthy from land acquisition from the local people dispossessed by settlers.

The clock tower is an impressove brick structure built in 1896 and bequeathed to the town by Thomas P Manifold who died in 1895 from a hunting accident. Manifold was th eson of John Manifold, a pioneer in the area. The tower and the Finlay Avenue Elm trees make Camperdown one of the classier towns around.

Magnificent brick clock tower in the central strip garden stip. Apparently you can go to the top - not when there, will get a great view of the town.

For a couple of bucks you can climb up the steep stairs to see the clock mechanism and get an explanation of its working from a volunteer, also you can climb up further to get some good views over the town. We enjoyed this experience and loved seeing the way the clock worked to ring the bells.

Pass this clock tower a couple of times a week and it has been beautifully renovated. The clock face looks so clean clear easy to read. A lovely focal point in the main Street. You can't miss it. Always on time every time!!!!
