First off, this museum is now located inside the Biblical Times Theater. I really enjoyed this museum and the history of gospel music. There were some great things to look at. The staff was very friendly. I would definitely visit again. :)

The SoGo Hall of Fame has been closed since covid and TPTB at Dollywood did not renew their lease after a gazillion years. They are trying to secure a new building off the grounds of DW.

The museum is now located inside Biblical Times Dinner Theater on Parkway in Pigeon Forge... a much more convenient location!

I grew up with Southern Gospel Music so this brought back many precious memories. I am so grateful to Dolly for keeping this music alive and part of Dollywood.

On numerous occasions we have been in the park without making the time to tour the Museum. On this trip we found ourselves at the door and entered to find a remarkable amount of information displayed in grand fashion with little space left bare front to back. The music and artists with their lives presented as they were took us back to our childhood and beyond evoking fond memories of simpler times spent with our families and friends singing the music in church or listening to radio programs that elevated our love of both.

While visiting Dollywood we decided to visit the museum which is inside the park.
If you listen or like me grew up with Southern gospel it’s quite a treat.
They have clothes from certain artists you can purchase also.
There is also a gift shop where you can purchase music.

The Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame is a museum site located and operated at the Dollywood theme park which is located in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.
This is a museum that houses artifacts of many, and is the site of the professional preservation of the artists, songwriters, and industry workers. The intention of the museum is to preserve, protect and promote Southern Gospel Music along with its history and heritage.
The Museum contains items from the heyday when Southern Gospel Music was performed by a large number of musical acts.
Originally, Southern gospel music was sung only by quartets, utilizing a style known as four-part harmony.
There is a great selection of memorabilia including a dress that belonged to the late Vestal Goodman who was the main star of the Happy Goodman Family. One of the bigger displays is a replica of Blackwood Brothers original tour bus. In It’s day I suppose this was considered a really luxury touring bus.
Also included throughout the museum there are several video and sound clips playing videos of many inductees along with a whole hallway of bronze plaques of Hall of Fame inductees.
This museum is dedicated to the legacy of those early pioneers’ of southern gospel music and their many accomplishments.
There is also a gift shop, somewhat small, but you can pick up some cds.

Had a great time here. Couldn't believe how long we were here. Plenty to see and a lot of history you will learn or remember. A musrt see for any fan of gospel music.

This was quite a nice surprise after spending a day in Dollywood. We were on our way out the gate when we spotted the HOF. We went in and it was very educational and quite entertaining.

A remarkable place with a very interesting history of Southern Gospel Music. You can proceed at your own pace and do this as slow or fast as you like.
It also provides a nice break from the heat on a hot day.

The Southern Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame.. Is a museum of Southern Gospel Music and artist that have been inducted into the hall of fame. There is music (Cd'S) that you can purchase and there is music playing in the hall of fame. Right next door to the hall of fame is the Showstreet Palace Theather where concert and shows are held. On the Dollywood web site go to Theme Park and click on Shows & Entertainment under explore the park. Scroll thru to see what shows and where they are preforming through out the Dollywood Theme Park.

You sure can visit the museum without purchasing park passes! Just go to the customer service window and tell them you want to visit the SGMA Hall of Fame but do not want to visit the park. There is no charge! You will still need to pay for parking, but entrance to the museum is free.

We are planning a trip to Pigeon Forge in late September and will be attending a couple of the National Quartet Convention concerts. We would like to see the museum. Are you required to buy tickets to Dollywood to see it. We are not interested in the theme park rides etc.
