We camped for one week at this park with our family and one other family. We both brought pop up campers. Both our families have experience camping in national and state parks around the country.
The good: we had heard the park was very quiet this time of year, esp. during the week. True. At times we felt like we had the campground to ourselves since we were on the top row. The prime spots (where we tried to book but were unavailable) were closest to the lake, and had the most activity.
The park is serene and pretty. Lots of natural beauty. The marina is large and offered boat rental. Tubing with a pontoon was certainly the highlight of the trip.
The bad: whoever designed this campground blew their budget on the platforms. We were attracted to EE b/c of this unique aspect-and it is- but the platforms come with drawbacks. Namely you have to pay attention to the grade or else you’ll have a devil of a time getting any trailer in and out. We lucked out with sites that were moderate but saw many pads that were gouged from past trailers. Frankly we couldn’t imagine getting our pop-ups in those.
Second, the pads have a water pump and electric hookup (good) but in most the location is to the front and left, which is opposite of where our electric cord comes out. We had to move our camper so close to one side that we were oddly crunched. I guess we could have manually flipped the camper around but by the time we noticed our 30ft cord wouldn’t reach we’d already had it.
The bathroom itself is nice but is way too far away, and our site was right next to the stairs leading to it. Many other sites had a way further hike to get there. Most of the path getting there is dirt. It rained a lot during our trip so the path became muddy and inevitably we would all track mud into the bathroom.
The shower area lacks a place to hang anything and the changing area is pretty narrow.
There are no grey water dump sites around the park or trash dumpsters except in the area around the camp store. I understand why maybe they can’t install these around given the narrow and steep roads of the campground but wanted to share that.
Lastly, the lake is big, clean, and was very enjoyable. However, the beaches are very rocky everywhere. There is no sand beach that we could find. It was ok for us to wear sandals to get to the water, just don’t expect a spot to lay out like other lakes.

We camped here for 2 nights, and it was the most unique campground we’ve ever visited. Each campsite is a wooden platform built out over hills and ravines overlooking a lake. It’s beautiful and picturesque to say the least. Be careful when reserving a site - each one is “rated” for different types and sizes of RVs - make sure yours will fit on the platform! The campfire rings are pretty close to the road, but the campground is so quiet that it was never really a problem. The shower/bathroom buildings are old, but clean and well kept. The park has a lot of trails and places to explore - I wish we had had more time! We would definitely return when we are back in Tennessee.

Our campsite was very level with a concrete pad. We had a beautiful view of the lake with sunsets each evening. Our site was #42. Some sites have inclines which would be difficult to back a trailer into. The lake access is very steep and rocky. There are two boat ramps for launching kayaks, in addition to the marina. Restaurant closes for the winter season. There are several hiking trails. The lake is great for kayaking, although quite busy with boats on the weekend. Weekdays are very quiet. Very enjoyable visit.

Thanks to the sweet Host for letting us have the other Host spot because otherwise we would have had to go home. Site #23 impossible to get into. The ranger even said it is the worst spot they have but there so many that are steep and hard to get into really. The wet road didnt help but it is single lane so if we went over the edge trying to get in we would have been in trouble.

We spent a week here and this is one of the best and most unique parks we have ever been too! If you like to paddle, we had a lakeside campsite and launched our boats right below our camp! It was perfect! The variety of animals we saw was extraordinary! Every one we encountered that worked at the park was awesome and very helpful! I would recommend to anyone. If you want more people to mingle, go on weekends, if you want solitude in nature go during the week! We had the trails and water almost entirely to ourselves! It was incredible!

Nice state park with several good trails. The millennium trail is a good moderate hike as is the Highland Rim trail. Good for kids is the Storybook trail. If you enjoy history you will like the short but steep hike to Dunham cemetery, site of an early settler cemetery. I also recommend the small interpretive center with fossils, animal mounts and a great little aviary. We got to see a barred owl and a red shoulder hawk and learned a lot about them from the informative ranger there. Dogs on leash are allowed in the park.

A beautiful TN State Park featuring over 6,000 acres on Center Hill Lake. Easy and almost direct access from the interstate. Nice hiking trails, several boat launches and marina. Nice visitor center with Observation tower that allows for 360 views.
Nice clean campground with spacious sites with power and water. Water sites offer exceptional views. Shower and restrooms were clean and comfortable with temperature control. Park rangers were friendly and were frequently patrolling the area. Onsite boat rentals in season.
Interpretive center was closed during our visit but features an outdoor Aviary which was available showcasing McKenzie the blind Barred Owl and a raptor. Beautiful.
Just ouside, actually right across the street from the entrance is Big Rock Market. A small market with basic necessities, drinks, t-shirts, stickers , BBQ and delicious Mac and Cheese. Caney Fork Outdoors center is also on this site.
Smithville, TN is close by. Be aware most stores close at 2pm on Saturday. Stop by Harmony Farms and visit/ take a tour of this working farm.

Nice cabin with great Paddle Boarding opportunities on Center Hill Lake. Cabins were clean and well kept and provided access to a courtesy dock for easy access of our paddle boards. Great day trips on the water. The lake was a little crowded on Saturday but great during the week. We brought our dogs and the cabins were grouped by dog owners to not bother others.
Only down side was provided by Mother Nature, not the TN Parks - BUGS! Picked up a nice batch of redbugs (chiggers) somewhere. Also, bring a "spider stick" to knock down the webs on the trails. All part of staying in a park to me, so didn't gig them a star.

There aren't any yet at Edgar Evins!
I would like to know if there is WiFi availability in the cabins at Edgar Evins state park, and how strong the signal is. I’m staying there the 28th and would like some info on that.

I was told (in November 2021) they do not have WiFi at the cabins yet, but are working to get coverage there eventually. For now they only have WiFi at the campground and at the Interpretive Center (which you can sit in your vehicle and access).
Can you walk to the restaurant from the campsites?

I am considering using my pop-op at this park in a couple weeks. Looking at the photos of the camping decks it looks like the the water & electric is located on the left side of the deck, but my camper has the utility hookups on the right. Is the image reversed or is this actually the case? If they are on the left, how do other campers run their electric (how long of an extension do I need) etc...? THANKS for any help!

Please be careful when choosing a site. Not all of our sites will accommodate this size RV. The drive to the campground will not be an issue. Please feel free to call the park office with any questions. We would be happy to help you choose a site that will accommodate your RV. Our number is 931-858-2114.
Is there anywhere to ride bikes? Is there a lodge with a restaurant?

There are plenty of paved roads to ride bikes on, as long as you follow the rules of safety- traffic goes through there frequently, but are required to go only 30mph. There is a seasonal restaurant at the marina.
