Great gift shop and nature center

We stopped for a short visit on the way to Franklin after a VRBO vacation at Timms Ford Lake. My step grandaughter and her mother love animals so they went to the nature center while I checked out the gift shop. Rhonda was able to help me find postcards., Two were of Bella and George who live at the nature center They had lots of great items for people who were camping and some fun gifts. I showed great restraint, but it wasn't easy.

Love the hiking in the park

Absolutely gorgeous park with miles of walking and biking trails. We'll normally park by the park headquarters and walk along the lake on one of the paths. We've also taken our bikes out the peninsula. I know you can camp on the islands in a primitive setting with a reservation as well.

Park beautiful, cabin dirty

The park itself is wonderful. We had 1 day to hike. We did 2 trails. My favorite was the one with the 2 swinging bridges. We saw several deer. My only complaint is the cabin we stayed in. The cabin was okay. I feel they need to fire the maid. There were cobwebs all over. Behind the kitchen faucet were a few dead bugs. The shower had hair on the back wall. The floor around toilet had hair on it it. The toilet, botton part looked like it hadnt been wiped for a long time. My only hope is, that my bedsheets were clean. We wont be back, we did everything we wanted to do.

A Wonderful Little Campground on the Lake!

We love the Fairview Campground. We have camped there 5 times in our Class C. The Camp Host, Vickie, does a great job keeping the bathrooms clean, and staying in touch with everyone. The office staff are so friendly, and have been very helpful in bookings and getting handicapped discounts. You can also book on line, if you’re not eligible for discounts. They have a newly paved road, great for bike riding. There are lots of lakefront lots, where you can pull up your kayaks, or boat to the shore or swim in the lake. Most of the lakefront sites just have water and electric hookups. Most of the sites in the middle and up on the hill have water, electric, and sewer hookups. All campsites have a good view of the lake. But I wish all the lakefront sites had sewer hookups. Campers have to go to the dump station, and the line gets backed up.
This cute little campground is near a Dollar General store, and downtown Winchester is just ten minutes away. There are several grocery stores, fast food restaurants, Donut Palace, a bakery, drug stores, and just about anything else you might need.
Great place for RV or tent camping!

Best State Park We Have Visited

Since Covid, we have been visiting our state park cabin facilities here in Tn. While others have commented the cabins at Tim's Ford as "dated" we did not think that at all. It's a cabin! If you want brand new amenities, go to a hotel! The cabins at Tim's Ford are full of character with sloping roof lines that are visible from inside. They were spacious and clean and many of them had fabulous unobstructed lake views.

The lake is beautiful...the shore line in not littered with housing developments . As a matter of fact, we never even saw a house even close to the shoreline. It was as it intended to look...natural. There is a marina a short hop down the road that rents pontoon boats and has a cute little dock side restaurant (The Hard Dock Cafe). There is an 18 hole golf course in the park (Bear Trace) which is outstanding and affordable. The pros there took good care of us!

If you can go mid week, there are very few people there. Nice and quiet..loads of hiking trails for all levels. If you to stay in a cabin, bring paper towels and grooming items (shampoo, conditioners and lotions and hair driers as these are not provided). I always go to cabins prepared for these things, so we were not at all bothered. Definitely worth the short drive from Nashville (1 hour 45 min).

Lakefront

We paid for the premium lakefront site which was a great location. The only problem was the boaters who didn’t pay for the lakefront had their boats lined up in front of our site in the water. It was hard to get in water or enjoy the view with the boats blocking everything.

Great park

We visited for the first time. The staff at the visitor center was fabulous. Lots of shopping options at the visitor center,, if you are a shopper. We had lunch that we brought at the visitor center (picnic table and rocking chairs available). There is a storybook trail that we anticipate bringing our granddaughter to. We struggled to find the trail to the suspension bridges, but eventually found the trail head behind the nature center. Student worker Joe in the nature center was very well informed and knowledgeable. Only 30 minutes from Old Stone Fort state park, and very easy to visit both in one day.

Great place

We camped here (RV) for 2 nights. The campground is good but the parking pads are short.

We played the golf course twice. It was designed by Jack Nichlas and has tees for varying skill levels. The greens are quite deceiving.

Nice cabin stay.

We stayed 2 nights in cabin 16 in late April 2021. Was very quiet due to pandemic I guess. But very peaceful and nice stay. Weak wifi and only a few tv channels but very peaceful stay with some hiking trails.

Wow!!! This park is amazing! Play ground is nice, bathrooms clean, staff is very friendly and helpful! Trails are awesome!
