The Dallas Zoo has made great strides over the years, improving the exhibits and the experience. We came on a day that wasn’t crowded and go to interact with several of the employees that clearly have a passion for the animals in their care. It had been many years since we had visited and were glad we went back.

I think a lot of the experience has to do with the weather. We went on an 83 degree day. Most of the animals were out and about. We saw almost everything. This is a very nice zoo for little ones but they will get tuckered out if they don't have a wagon or stroller. The signage could be a lot better. The bathrooms could be A LOT BETTER. The hand dryers are useless. The restaurant we ate in had no chicken available, no trays, no silverware and no little cups for condiments.

A fun day at the zoo AND an effective on-site NRPA tour regarding private/public partnerships, community engagement and mission. We were impressed by the large Savanah area and the whole layout of the zoo. It’s the largest zoo in Texas and an awesome one for families to learn and play.

Large zoo with lots of shade. The children's zoo has a running stream (ankle deep) so bring swimmers and sunscreen for kids. $4 carousel rides, $3 mini train (not running the day we went), $2 conservation bracelets all at info booth. Other items for sale like fan spray bottles and bubble wands. Water. Drinks, snacks are allowed. Need to bring reusable straw. If animals aren't on 1 side of their exhibit, then try the other. If lions are missing, go into the serngethi grill restaurant and they lay right on the window wall.

We went shortly after they opened on Friday. All the bathrooms were in desperate need of cleaning.
It's neat how it's organized. We saw lots of animals we don't have in our local zoo.

All the animals where active! The animals keepers where known all thing about the animals! We enjoyed it did take a few hours

Pretty big so my kids had a good time lots of animals to see along with cool off stations around the zoo . My kids love the lil kiddy area with the splash pad

The zoo was great make sure you plan time if you do a Dallas city pass as we went but there was an animal loose so the zoo was closed. We had great weather and the kids loved it.

No one wants to hear people complain or gripe. However, if a business is going to take your money and a lot of it, then we as consumers have a right to speak our minds.
I went April 16, 2023, with 8 people. Parking is a mess and the employees patrolling this are incompetent. I think the prices to get in are not that bad but for what you see, they are terrible. Example., there are NO animals to see. Either they hide or the park is so unkept they are hard to see. The park is FILTHY. No dirty but FILTHY. The bathrooms are disgusting. The employees are unknowledgeable, (with exception at the safari exhibit, the giraffe people were great) There were many exhibits closed and the number of BEES around every trash can and outside areas to eat is very bad. I did not come to a zoo to see bees. I spent about 300.00 on food and I think that is way to high for what was given. Fort Woth Zoo is a class act and even better but very small is the FRANK BUCK zoo in Gainsville.

If you have young children I would do the Dallas Zoo. If older kids and adults do the Botanical gardens x Hope this helps you x

How long should we plan to spend there with a 2.5 year old and a 5 year old? Is it pretty stroller or wagon accessible?
Also, is there food there and how is the wait time on that? We went to another zoo once and waited over an hour for some burgers.

Very stroller accessible, I really regretted not bringing the stroller (because I feared it wouldn’t be). Carry a big bag with snacks. The food was gross at worst so-so at best (good fries though)and you get a huge extra serving of “rip-off” for a cafeteria eating experience.
I’d plan on spending 3-4 hours easily.
