San Gabriel Park is a beautiful, relaxing place to walk, jog, picnic, play with the kids, or just nap under the giant spreading Live Oak trees. There are tables, BBQ pits, playscapes and miles of walkways. It never seems too crowded - even on holidays. There is plenty of parking and you can even park on the side of the road that borders the park on the opposite side of the river.

I grew up near the San Gabriel River and have enjoyed viewing it over the years. I enjoy seeing the river in Georgetown and Circleville and near Granger. I used to enjoy fishing for Catfish many years ago.

The river is very difficult to access except at the Georgetown Park area which even has a sidewalk long the river's edge. The remaining portions of the river are over grown, infested with ticks and vagrants or blocked by land owners.

The San Gabriel River looks very clean and is very pretty. I have never been there when it was too crowded.

The I walk the trail at least three times a week, it's safe and a beautiful view. I usually walk the five and half mile trail.It has stretching area and you can do some after or during your walks.

We walked 5 miles at the San Gabriel River trail in Georgetown Texas on a beautiful Saturday January 5th. Not a cloud in the sky and 70 degrees. Families were out biking, walking, playing disc golf. It was great to see the young kids with their families.

This pretty stretch of river through town along the Pickett Trail makes you feel you are farther away from civilization except for the Apartments on the opposite bank.

Back 100 years ago, the people that used to own the land that is now San Gabriel Park used to sell camping rights on the land, and families used to build camp houses on the land they'd leased. Sometimes I wish you could still do that because we spend so much time on a specific little spot on the river in the park that I'd love to go to sleep at and wake up on every morning when the weather is right—although being able to go there all the time is so much better! (In a camp cabin that I built, not a tent!) I wish the environmental conditions were still favorable for swimming throughout the entire river because I can't imagine anything more relaxing than tubing through the whole park. This piece of land is one of the most beautiful places in all of Williamson County, and not taking the time to stroll down the river and take in the simple beauty of it all would be depriving yourself of something really special. We are there several times a week, and despite the current inconvenience of the renovations, it’s only temporary and it’ll be even better when it’s done.

There are multiple access paths to the river ... I usually enjoy the city park on the river just east of Austin street. a great swimming hole and fun at the cascade over the dam. nice picnic shelters, great parking

Depends on the flow rate. Probably ok but not exciting right now. Time a trip 3 or4 days after a good rain when the river has cleared up and running clean. You can put in below the dam on Lake Georgetown for a shorter trip or put in below the little dam in San Gabriel Park for a longer trip down to Mankins Crossing on east hwy 29. Maybe some wading. No real rapids. Have lots of water with you and some energy snacks.
