Tent camped x 2 nights site 033, best open views of the lake, shaded, table, grill & firepit situated in close proximty of each other, there's a flat rock cliff overlook on this site wonderful for sitting watching sunrise & morning coffee. Restrooms 2 sites down.

Beautiful location, BUT volunteers are unfriendly and don't agree on the rules! They need to give campers a set of written rules so campers AND volunteers will know what is expected of them and know where to park.

The showers are in need of a major upgrade.

We had a great hike. Beautiful views and excellent weather. Trails was not well signed but we figured out. Easy to moderate level. Restrooms were clean. We will be back for sure.

Not a state park, but very similar. I felt very safe. Lots of old folks in RVs and families with kids. Good hiking and lake activities. Large sturdy covered tables. Large restrooms with hot showers, but minimally equipped.

We went for a hike to the little waterfall at the end. It was hot, and we stupidly didn't bring water. Take water! It's a good fun hike, but a little too long to go without water.

The parking lot is not safe. Went there yesterday and when we returned to the car, someone had drilled into our car door lock to get into the vehicle and they stole my cash and credit cards.

Went here for a 2 day stay in site #36 right on the lake. We had a beautiful view from our trailer over the lake. We set our chairs up right under the trees and had plenty of shade. Many of these sites are not big rig friendly. We saw several large fifth wheels scrapping tree tops. Many of the sites don't go very far back either. While our site was sloped it was level from side to side. The picknic table are all under covered structures and while they are old they seem to be in good shape. We enjoyed this COE campground especially when using our senior pass getting a $13 per day rate.

Restrooms are in need of serious update. Freezing temperatures and not even a space heater making showers impractical. No privacy as well. Clean probably because too cold for heavy usage.

Sites are great but most seem to take a lot of leveling. Great trees and quiet well off any highways . We’ll probably come back as it is still very convenient to family living in Austin.

Our rating is heavily weighted to restrooms since we camp in a pop up without a bathroom.

This park is run by the army corps of engineers. There is a 45 per car entrance fee but if you are only hiking if you turn right at the entrance there is a parking lot. Park here and it is only $2 to walk in. I entered today for free because I got there so early that the booth was not manned. Yes a 7 am hiking start today so I could get off of the trail before the extreme hot set in. As I stated in last years review this is a perfect trail for those wanting rocks, elevation change and outstanding views. In fact since I have had a chance to do other sections of the San Gabriel Trail I am going to say that this part from Cedar Breaks to Crockett Garden Falls is the best stretch. Only today I got to Crockett Gardens by 8 so I went on to Cedar Hollow Camp. First Cedar breaks.... This is a nice park with what looks like an outstanding camp ground. The host is right at the entrance and I would advise reservations especially on the weekends and during the summer. looks like a popular place. Crockett Gardens and Falls...….. At Crockett Gardens there is a year round spring that you could get water if you have your filter and tabs with you. The Waterfall is unique as it is I believe a travertine falls which means it is growing as carbon and limestone contact each other to form an ever larger falls. The trail to the falls is to the right through the taller then you river grass but worth the effort. On to Cedar Camp...….. Not much here very primitive and has been over washed by the lake during last years record rains. There was a lot of dead timber strewn around from that event. I wouldn't count on this camp if I was overnighting on the trail although I did step over a nice spring a few hundred yards before arriving at the camp so there is water. It is lake side but I think I would trust the spring over the lake water and again have the proper equipment to treat and filter any water you drink. For the he man flip flop hikers I think I'd wear shoes on this one. There are tons of sharply eroded rock that the trail passes over. I like my toes to well to try it. This is also a bike trail although I don't know how they do it. It is extremely rough and again I like my backside and knees too much to try this thing on a bike.

We enjoy this campgrounds for a quick getaway. No full hook ups, but the camp sites are more roomy than most state parks. This is a Corp of Engineer park so they have covered picnic areas. The bathrooms are what you expect at a campground! They only have one dump station and the trash receptacles are only on the way out, but other than that, we enjoy to! Great hiking when the weather is cooler. The campsites are pretty level and we do like the covered picnic area. We don't use the lake, but we do enjoy sitting and relaxing and looking at the lake!
